I sent this coward an email yesterday.

I think he has burned his bridge with me, so going forward with his Presidential quest is a joke.

Either support the war or vote to cut off funds and end it.

I can respect either position, although I disagree with cutting off funds.

To do neither and support a nonbinding resolution is an act of cowardice that all voters should view with the utmost contempt.

Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback said Thursday he would not support a resolution drafted by Democrats opposing President Bush's Iraq plan, but he could back a rival proposal that contains less partisan language.

Not good enough

Read Hugh Hewitt’s Townhall.com column deals with the pledge, but there is even greater urgency to the task of bringing informed pressure to bear on GOP senators gone wobbly on the war.  If you are a blogger, please consider posting the contact information below and urging your readers to join in the effort to wake up the GOP Senate caucus.  Send along Dean's post  as a primer on how senators are supposed to act when difficult political decisions loom affecting the life of their country and the conduct of a war.

Please tell the candidates in the ’08 cycle especially –Alexander, Collins, Coleman and Smith and would be presidential nominee Brownback—that a vote for the Warner resolution is the end of support for them and the NRSC.

Senator Alexander’s phone: (202) 224-4944. His e-mail is here.

Senator Brownback’s phone: (202) 224-6521. His e-mail is here.

Senator Coleman’s phone: (202) 224-5641.His e-mail is here.

Senator Collins’ phone: (202) 224-2523. Her e-mail is here.

Senator Smith’s phone: (202) 224-3753. His e-mail is here.

Senator Voinovich's phone: (202) 224-3353.  His e-mail is here.

The GOP leadership, which need to announce that no resolution will voted on that encourages the enemy, and that includes the Warner resolution or any cousin of the Warner resolution:

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s phone is (202) 224-2541. His e-mail is here.

Minority Whip Trent Lott’s phone is (202) 224-6253. His e-mail is here.

Senator Jon Kyl’s phone is (202) 224-4521. His e-mail is here.

Senator John Ensign’s phone is (202) 224-6244. His e-mail is here.

When you are done calling and writing, start over, and ask your friends to do so as well, beginning with the pledge.

I don't know what these senators are thinking this morning, but they clearly haven't been listening to you.  No debate will begin or vote be taken until next week, so invest some time in supporting the troops by bringing clarity to these senators: You can't win a war by encouraging the enemy and undercutting the commander on the ground in Iraq or the Commander-in-Chief in the White House.  Not to understand that is a great way to send an unreversable message to core supporters that their time and money is best spent elsewhere.

Senator Brownback's campaign website e-mai is: info@brownback.com.

Visit TheNRSCPledge.com, sign up, contact the key senators, and then ask your friends and family to do the same.

The cowardly Senate running from cowardly suicide bombers of women and children.

Disgraceful, embarrassing, and disgusting.

I too have been disappointed in the things he has said about the war and Bush administration. Of course, it's nothing compared to my Senators, Obama and Durbin. There is no point in calling or writing them on anything.

If we conclude nothing else from this, the recent wobbly stand on the War on Terror by Brownback demonstrates poor political judgment by a candidate entering the Republican Primaries. The Democrats can easily outmaneuver Brownback in a tough campaign in the general election if this is a representative example of his political IQ.

Okay, we all know the real reason why Brownback changed his mind, but let's look at it in a positive light. At least he did the right thing by not supporting the resolution.

I'm afraid you might be being to optimistic about Brownback.

I heard that he wanted the Warner (Repub) resolution that says they disagree with the President adding more troops and want him to "pursue all options and alternatives to reach the strategic goals ...".

NO I'M NOT KIDDING!

Somehow, they think that is a way to join the cut and run bandwagon and not call it that. Of course the enemy will understand and read the fine print too .....

What about Warner's??

There should be NO resolutions .. especially in a time of war

Any Senator who voted in 2002 for the war - to send 150,000 American troops to fight in Iraq - and now votes for a resolution that will sabotage them by encouraging the enemy to continue fighting and killing - any Senator who does that should suffer the same fate as Vikun Quisling and Pierre Laval.
