As I watched these events unfold two years ago, I presumed that the Bush DOJ chose not to exploit these stories for reasons of national security. Although seemingly unrelated, both of these stories lead to the same larger secret, a secret that Berger risked his career to conceal, a secret that if revealed had the potential to destabilize the nation during a time of war.
As I have since learned, however, the Bush White House is not fully in control of its own Justice Department and FBI. In truth, the decision to protect Berger may have more to do with saving the Clinton legacy than with stabilizing the nation.

Everyone knows I have been all over this Berger story. I have written everyone I could think of and have gotten no response. (At least the lefty loons get their message out.) Everyone agrees somethings wrong here.
As for Duncan Hunter. He is the only one who could promise us he would clean house and have the credibility for it.(Using the 'Rule of Law' promise we expect.) If he endorsed the 'Fair Tax' he would put himself head and shoulders above the rest.
President Bush has been engaged in battle since January 20, 2001. Since then, the numbers assaulting him have expanded to include practically everyone but his wife.
Southack has created a presentation of President Bush's accomplishments, all of which required 'selectively picking his battles'.
Presidency of George W. Bush -- the first 48 months

Ginsburg usually oozes 'diplo-manner'. Last night was the second time I've seen him depart from this demeanor. The topic the other time was Clinton/terrorism/ABC's 9/11 movie.
The same as with Scooter Libby -- lying to investigators and obstruction of justice.
As I understand it, Berger made it seem like it was just sloppiness on his part. Now we know that he snuck documents outside and hid them under a construction trailer to be retrieved later.
He may have settled the original charges, but he should now be made to address lying to investigators, especially if his original light sentence was because of his lies.

You will want to read the entire thread, but this page and the research on it is important to know.
Thanks to everyone for the research and Calpernia, as expected, you tie all the loose ends, neatly.
I was one of those who probably helped compile the list Southack, and others, passed around the Internet several years ago.
At the time, I too was adamantly touting all the things GWB had done good, and was not getting credit.
Since then, he has gone south with the Harriet Miers thing, Dubai ports, amnesty for illegal immigrants, and this INSANE "we need a new tone" crap.
In other words, a stronger President Bush defender you could not find from 1999-2004.
But since telling the media (right after the 2004 election) that "I have earned political capital, and now I'm gonna spend it," GWB has gone soft.
Today, for heavens sake, he issued a statement asking...... ASKING!!!! the Demwimps in Congress to "please" give me a chance.
I am quite sure the Dems, as did I, deposited that statment alongside the toiled paper.
GWB should have said, "For the past six years, this White House along with most Republicans are the only ones who put forth, and enacted, any real legislation to keep America prosperous and safe --- while the Democrats blocked and obstructed every step of the way."
Now, those same Dems are passing meaningless yet hurtful legislation that will embolden our terrorist enemies while demoralizing our brave men and women in the military."
IF BUSH WOULD ONLY SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT, the entire Republican base would stand up and CHEER.
Instead, he is making himself look even weaker and weaker by asking "Please give me a chance."
Can you envision Ronald Reagan EVER EVER EVER asking Congress to "please" just "please" give me a chance.
Me neither.
Lastly, with all deference to Southack, I and others on FR also helped compile that list of "good" things GWB did his first three years.
Was I proud back then? Yes.
But the Presidency is eight long years, not just three.
Re: your comment:
GWB should have said, "For the past six years, this White House along with most Republicans are the only ones who put forth, and enacted, any real legislation to keep America prosperous and safe --- while the Democrats blocked and obstructed every step of the way."
I would love it!
Sounds good to me. What's good for the goose, etc etc etc.
E-mail your rationale to DOJ - if nothing else it'll let 'em know that people DO think about these things...
Bump and save...
there is a catch 22 here, if GW, were to release info, the liberals would declare, the White house, to have fabricated the info, in an afford to oppose Clinton#2, and the MSM, would fall in-line with Clinton#2, as she denounced the release of damaging information...thereby neutralizing the damaging impact of the Clinton#1's timidity on terrorismNo offense, thinking, but that's total BS. Just do what is right, not what conforms to some convoluted set of scenarios. You can weave scenarios until the cows come home -- I'll weave some too -- but when it comes to Justice, the Law and Enforcing the Law, just do the damn job and leave the scenarios to Hollyweird.
I agree.
BTTT
OK! I have no particular problem with your rebuttal...however I am here to say, the next 18 months or so, are going to short circuit your thinking like nothing you have experienced before....I see the end result of this back-scatching by Clinton2 and Obmama, something like this, Clinton2 for President, and Obmama for VPYou lost me. How does demanding a fair investigation of Sandy Burglar end up electing the Hillary/Obama Treason Party Ticket?
The zanies are out there, by the millions. Or are they so zany? Perhaps they have the vision to see and analyze what is happening big picture, so the big picture players are shooting back with everything they can to discredit people who can damage their agenda.
Some things are allowed to happen so the New World Order can more firmly establish it's agenda before clairvoyant people question the motives behind allowing the Sandy Bergers of the world to be unprosecuted.
Unfettered illegal immigration and a break down of our borders, signing on to the world court, UN Kyoto treaty that establishes a world tax, among a lot of other issues we are currrently engaged in discussions about, and why the people's voices are being ignored, are issues that diminish our national sovergnity and weaken our positions when fighting the WOT or NAFTA trade treaties. People in our government are ACTIVELY PROMOTING those very issues and when all tied together paint a very clear pattern of the direction some of our leaders are leading us, dispite our objections.
Those officials are well planted within both the GOP and The Rats, so the overall objectives will continue moving dispite public protests. That is unless we the people open our eyes as a Republic, and actively pursue and prosecute the traiters who are actively selling out our national heritage to the highest bidder. The source of the leadership has to be very close to the top, in several segments of private and public leadership, to keep passing on the agenda regardless of the political party in power.
I would like to believe that Bush is just putting the "good of the country" above his desire to "get back" at Clinton. But I honestly believe that this is all just part of some back-door deal that only the powerful people get to play. Something like the MSM agrees not to release a damning report that came in while Bush was in office IF Bush agrees not to aggressively pursue the Sandy Berger case. Or perhaps it was as simple as $$$$$.
If we really want to bring this story to the American people, then we need to get around the MSM. Are there any "conservative" film-makers in Hollywood who want a great story? I wonder why Micheal Moore isn't interested in this story.
So, why hasn't the Bush Justice Department still not given Burglar a 'lie Detector test". Your "Greymail' theory looks good on paper. However, why would that prevent the Bush justice department from giving Burglar a "lie detector test" as was agreed in his plea bargain?
