My aunt and uncle sent this out to our family at 6:30 AM today. Carrie is my young cousin, a very gifted artist, and the second eldest among her siblings. She and her family are in Michigan.
Prayer reqeust from my aunt and uncle (Carrie is their granddaughter).
This morning on her way to work Carrie's car slid on the highway and into a tree. She has very bad injuries, especially to her head. Her brain is swelling and she is now in surgery. They plan to open her skull to allow for the swelling, and she is not responding. They don't give her parents a lot of hope. We are telling everyone so you can join us in praying for our dear Caroline. They called her parents about 7:45 this morning and they're at the hospital now.
I am so happy to see this post and that this thread is still going. I have continued to pray for Carrie and was wondering how she was doing. All life has a purpose and I will continue to pray for Carrie and her family and her caregivers. Grand Rapids is not that far away from Muskegon and we have excellent heath services here. Depending on Carrie’s age, maybe DeVos children’s hospital, I know they treat teens too. God bless!

Merry Christmas and continued prayers for God’s blessing and healing.
Continued prayers.
When I told my wife that Carrie would sometimes talk in her sleep, she recalled a 60 Minutes story on drug Ambien that had shown remarkable results for those in comas.
Anyway, here is the story:

from Chad & LIllian... about Carrie)
@@@
This is the first Christmas I can remember that we didn’t travel to visit family. Carrie is doing very well. Here is the latest report:
On Tuesday, two nurses in a row thought she had make-up on and she wasn’t wearing any. She just looks so beautiful. Her nurse suggested that we show her a mirror. She hasn’t seen herself in 11 months. So I found a nice large one that we held over the bed. She looked very intently at her image. The nurses that care for her all the time tell me she is changing and seeming more alert every time they come to work.
We brought in a small TV and watched home movies from Christmases in years past. It is interesting to see how the kids have grown up and yet their personalities stay intact!
John made a nice DVD of our Christmas this year, so she can watch it in her room. We will use a camcorder to record more things for her to see, too. She got a digital photo frame for Christmas and John made a nice slide show of family members for her to look at.
Here is a breakthrough: Carrie’s nurse told us that on Saturday night, she raised her left hand up to scratch her nose 3 or 4 times. This is the first time she did that. The nurse was surprised, since the left hand doesn’t normally move, and never moved to her face before. So the nurse asked her to do it again, and she did. Carrie also responds to both night nurses when they ask her to lift her head. I told them it seems like she does all the exciting stuff at night, and we never get to witness it. I’m not sure why!
A friend who has been praying for Carrie came for a visit yesterday. This is the first time she met Carrie, since she is going to school out-of-state. The friends commented that there was a real expectancy in the room, not a feeling of discouragement. She said that the Lord is pleased with that expectancy.
Dennis and I have SO much to be thankful for. I know I have said that before, but I really mean it!
“Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who always does wondrous things!”
Wonderful!! Prayers for Carrie. Happy New Year ~Pandy~
Wonderful news I will keep praying.
This is great news, Dolly. Thank you for the ping and the update.
I feel this expectancy too. I just know that at some point, God will lift Carrie out of this state and restore her to her family. I'm certain of it.
God bless and keep Carrie's family and friends and caregivers, and may He continue to heal and watch over this young lady. In Jesus' Awesome Name.
