THE four helicopter heroes who pulled off one of the most daring wartime rescue missions in Afghanistan have told their incredible tale for the first time.

They revealed how they hung precariously from two Apaches, braving hurricane winds from the blades and heavy enemy fire to swoop down and pluck the body of Royal Marine Matthew Ford from a Taliban fort.

Brave Men. Amazing black and white picture of a guy sitting on the wing of the helicopter in flight.

These guys are doing this and back in there own country Mohammed is becoming a more popular birth name....WTF.

maybe the Brits should generate some Muslim brigades just to fight muslims and see how that plays out in the press.

I've read two versions of this story but never found out the answer to this: does the UK fly Apaches or were those American pilots and machines?

Yup: http://www.army.mod.uk/aht/index.htm

"Sixty-seven Agusta Westland Apache AH Mk1s have been procured for the British Army. The aircraft is based on the Boeing (formerly McDonnell Douglas) AH-64D Apache Longbow which entered service with the US Army in 1998. Agusta Westland, the UK Prime Contractor, is building the aircraft to specific UK requirements including a secure communications suite and a state-of-the-art Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids System (HIDAS). The formidable surveillance and target acquisition (STA) capability of the sensor suite together with other improvements in weapon systems and avionics mean that the Apache AH Mk 1 will represent a major enhancement to the armed forces capability. No problem... the best bet is to go to the Department of defense or ministry of defense of the country in question.

Any property claimed by the taliban should be immediately reduced to smoking ash, along with any taliban within it.
