Todays National Journals Hotline reports that CBNs Brody recently interviewed Kansas Senator Sam Brownback. Brownback had this to say about Governor Mitt Romneys stance on abortion:
"I think you'll have to look at where he stood, and at times, he's said different things on these issues. I think that's all going to come out during a long campaign.
Fair enough.
Just about every conservative outlet including Townhall has wondered whether or not Mitt Romneys conversion to the Pro-Life movement was genuine or merely political opportunism. Most conservatives (perhaps weighing their options) seem to have come to the conclusion that we should celebrate conversions, so long as they are sincere.
Clearly, Kansas Senator Sam Brownback (who recently spoke at the March for Life) is seeking to position himself as the only true social conservative in the presidential race. As such, he stands to gain if voters conclude that Romneys past pro-Choice stance disqualifies him from their support.
But, it seems to me that voters are willing to forgive past mistakes. In fact, I would argue there is really only one unforgivable sin in politics and that sin is the sin of hypocrisy
Now, based on Brownbacks comments about Romney, you would assume that he has always been 100 percent solid on the Life issue, right? Well, it depends on whom you ask.

But mitt is still a gun grabber...who is trying to play nice with the NRA now.
Mitt should see if there's a position available at the weather channel. He'd be the perfect weatherman - always telling the viewers exactly what they want to hear!
It matters little whether Romney or Brownback are pro-life. What matters it what women think...only women seek abortions and only women can stop abortion.
Look, a lot of us have changed our political views over the years. I wasn't always pro-life. I didn't always love guns. I didn't always have highly conservative views about social issues. I can't imagine a thinking conservative-minded person who didn't develop and improve his or her views over the years. Is it just possible that Romney is maturing? Developing his ideas? Being persuaded of the truth?
I am a Kansan and am pretty familiar with Brownback.
Most of us here know full well he is a bit of a hypocrite and most definately a political opportunist.
But he wasn't a democrat so we elected him...hehe.
He'll be gone long before the first primary vote is cast.
No longer having to gain office in MA must be very maturing.
The reason why I posted this was to make a point.. The point is that people here are calling Romney a flip flopper on abortion.. If it is true about Brownback did change, then who would a true conservative support????
Romney has occasionally appeased the liberal voters of Massachusetts. His opponents will harp on the issue endlessly for empty points.
Hate to generalize, but what Mormon would ever be pro-choice? Very few, and certainly not Mitt Romney.
True...
Just as males can influence females to partake of abortion, so they can also help end this horror. The key is turning the issue from what is now debated past each side, to looking at the issue from the standpoint of self defense and the right to live once alive, and how we bring those two concepts together in a way that lifts the nation rather than divides the nation. Both major political parties have for too long used the issue of abortion on demand to empower their political fortunes. Time to set both of them aside on the issue and take a new look.
I have been conservative since 1964. Abortion is on the bottom of my list when I vote for a president. Like what will a prez do if he doesn't have congress to pass a bill? My one issue is illegal amnesty.... that is a current very important issue where the prez could make a difference in the near future (praying everyday a bill WILL NOT be passed for W to sign).
I'm not a Romney fan, but after reading about his refusal to back down re: the Patriot Act after being blasted by CAIR and other MA Muslim organizations, he gets a few points from me.
BArfffff... Go sell on DU ...
"....only women seek abortions and only women can stop abortion."
Many women who regretted their abortions say that if the man did not pressure them, they would not have had the abortion.
Also, Roe needs to be overturned, to save innocent lives, regardless of the circumstances.
While I could overlook Governor Mitt Romney's flip flops on the social issues, as people do change their minds, I can't overlook the fact that he is for socialized medicine:
"However, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney just a few months ago signed into law the proposal from that state's Legislature launching a new mandatory universal health insurance program.
That specific program requires all uninsured adults to buy that insurance by July 1, 2007 and prove it on their income tax returns or face fines that could range into the thousands of dollars."

Only women get pregnant by only men - and usually only women who seek abortions are urged to do so by the fathers(again only men).
What these men who impregnant women think about their own babies is important - what they think about the women who are carrying their baby can make all the difference in the world. This message needs to be told to young women and young men daily.
Reps. Duncan Hunter and Mike Pence were also at the pro-life rally.
Duncan Hunter said that judicial nominees should look at an ultrasound.
President Reagan was also once pro-"choice" but became strongly pro-life.
> Hate to generalize, but what Mormon would ever be pro-choice? Very few, and certainly not Mitt Romney.
I'm ashamed to say that I have personally heard several justify their position as being not "pro-abortion" but "pro-choice." They say, "It is not for the government to say what's right."
Hogwash. The government does and should regulate medical practice for "the common welfare", and I view abortion is a life-saving medical procedure, not a cosmetic or psychological measure.
