UPDATE: MEDEVACED MAN FROM OIL PLATFORM SAFELY ASHORE
HOUSTON - The crewman medevaced by the Coast Guard from an oil platform located about 120 miles south southeast of Sabine, Texas, was brought safely ashore this morning at Lake Charles, La.
A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston arrived at platform East Cameron 328 at approximately 7:40 a.m. today and hoisted the crewman aboard. They then flew to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, where the patient was transferred into the hospital's care.
A watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Houston/Galveston received a call from the crew of platform East Cameron 328 at 4:10 a.m., today requesting help for one of the crewmembers who had a violent reaction to his medication. Air Station Houston crews launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter to conduct the medevac and Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi crews launched an HU-25 Falcon jet to assist.
Early morning weather conditions slightly delayed the launch of both the helicopter and jet.
