CHENEY CALLS BLITZER QUESTION ON DAUGHTER'S PREGNANCY 'OUT OF LINE' Wed Jan 24 2007 13:41:22 ET
In an interview taped to air for today's 'Situation Room' on CNN, Vice President Cheney responded sharply to anchor Woilf Blitzer's line of questioning regarding the pregancy of Cheney's lesbian daughter:
Blitzer: Your daughter Mary, she's pregnant. All of us are happy. She's going to have a baby. You're going to have another grandchild. Some of the -- some critics, though, are suggesting, for example, a statement from someone representing Focus on the Family:
"Mary Cheney's pregnancy raises the question of what's best for children. Just because it's possible to conceive a child outside of the relationship of a married mother and father, doesn't mean it's best for the child."
Do you want to respond to that?
THE VICE PRESIDENT: No, I don't.
Blitzer: She's obviously a good daughter --
VICE PRESIDENT: I'm delighted -- I'm delighted I'm about to have a sixth grandchild, Wolf, and obviously think the world of both of my daughters and all of my grandchildren. And I think, frankly, you're out of line with that question.
Blitzer: I think all of us appreciate --
VICE PRESIDENT: I think you're out of -- I think you're out of line with that question.
Blitzer: -- your daughter. We like your daughters. Believe me, I'm very, very sympathetic to Liz and to Mary. I like them both. That was just a question that's come up and it's a responsible, fair question.
VICE PRESIDENT: I just fundamentally disagree with your perspective.
Developing...
Never been to DU, a$$wipe.
Is that all you have? Another whiner! LOL
His children are not relevant to the discussion. What is relevant are topics related to his position as VP. His daughter's affairs are not relevant. That includes whatever poloitical activity she's involved in and her personal affairs. If Blitzer wants to probe into the daughter's affairs, he can invite her to show up to answer questions.
"A lesbian daughter who is pregnant and about to give birth out of wedlock."
It appears that's all you're concerned about. Cheney's not interested in involving himself in anyone's condemnation of his daughter, or of her personal behavior, or of getting involved in promoting Dobson's opinions.
"The best way to handle such a serious of questions, is to just give an answer and move on."
It's not a serious question. It's a personal question, that's not a rpoper question to expect any father to answer, let alone answer in public. The question was intended to pit Cheney against his daughter, or Cheney againt the Dobsonites. Cheney properly told Blitzer it was none of his business.
"You people are acting like this is some kind of unethical inquisition. It wasn't!"
It's a vicious question, intended to create a confrontation between Cheney and his daughter, or Cheney and the Dobsonites. Cheney recognized the vicious nature and intent of the question and properly rejected it.
"Politics isn't for the faint of heart or thin skin whiners either."
So, why are you whining?
As I pointed out, there are differing opinions on that topic.
>>>>It appears that's all you're concerned about.
Wolf`s line of questioning is what prompted this thread. The question had to do with Cheney's politically active, pregnant, lesbian, unwed daughter. Answer the question and move on.
You think this was an intrusion into Cheney's life. I think the VP fumbled that part of the interview. The questioning was proper.
>>>>It's a vicious question ...
Grow up!
Fact is, many posters on this thread have taken this far too personally. Whining and barking to the high heaven. That includes you.
LOL!
I would vote for him without batting an eye.
Leave the family out of Cheney's politics Mr. Blitzer and Mr. Reagan man...........
It's only about sex.
Sorry but it wasn't poison and it wasn't about the GOP, it WAS strictly personal........and Cheney put an end to it.........
He did, he said it wasn't any of the media's business. Why can't you understand that? What does the personal life of one of V.P. Cheney's children have to do with the politics of today which was the reason Cheney was on the program?
Let it go dude.........
Pay attention. Mary Cheney is a public figure and a political gay activist. She's fair game. Especially for a few simple questions asked of her Father. The VPOTUS is an elected public servant! His life is an open book.
LOL You guys are the ones perpetuating my responses. Not me.
yea, Blitzer and Reagan Man.........
5:45 p.m. is a little early to start the sauce but thats's the only explanation I can come up with.........
Take Wolf bird hunting.
You guys are psycho!
I just saw that interview of Cheney with Blitzer. Incredibly below the belt. Cheney outclassed the Wolf idiot big time. I'd hate to be on the receiving end of the look Cheney gave WB.
Oh' horse crap
It's about damn time someone in the administration grow a freaking spine.
It's perfectly OK for Wolf to ask the question
The Vice President of the United States, second in command of the entire country, told him to move on to a different subject in a nice, polite way, he should have gotten the hint
