Actually, Blackirish, he's been pretty consistently dropping:
Early August 2006:
Giuliani 39%

Late September/early October, 2006:
Giuliani 30%

2008 U.S. Presidential Election
New '08 Iowa poll: Giuliani leads GOP rivals
400 likely GOP Iowa caucus goers were polled by Victory Enterprises. Results:
http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060823/NEWS09/608230368/1001
Giuliani 30.0%
McCain 17.3%
Frist 6.5%
Romney 4.5%
Allen 3.5%
Pataki 3.3%
Huckabee 2.5%
Brownback 2.5%
Undecided 29%
"Giuliani, who has visited Iowa once since 2004, is also viewed as favorable by two-thirds of the poll's respondents, the highest rating among the eight Republicans listed as potential candidates in the survey.
However, two-thirds said they would be unlikely to support a candidate whose position on abortion differed from theirs, a potential problem for Giuliani, who supports abortion rights.
Seventy percent of the poll's respondents identified themselves as "pro-life," a term associated with opposition to abortion rights, compared with 30 percent who called themselves "pro-choice." shorthand for supporting abortion rights."
I think there may be something to the CW that says that some of the people answering "Giuliani" in these polls aren't aware of his positions on social issues, and his support will erode once that becomes more widely known.
Mid December 2006:
Giuliani 26%

Mid January 2007:
Giuliani 19%

He's dropped in each of the early primary states for three months, and he's dropped in the national polls as well.

If the current administration has punted a Rudy administration will throw interceptions every day.

Newt is about the only real conservative FNC has anymore. There's the Neo-cons - Bill Kristol and Fred Barnes, the original talking head, and now Rudy.

Amen sister. I've been a member of this site for a long time and I swear if Ronald Reagan rose from the dead some of these unhappy conservatives would find something to dislike. sigh.....

I lived in NYC for two years in the mid 1990's. During his tenure he did great police work in cleaning up the city and increasing property values as well as property taxes.
However, while Rudy was able to sell his agenda to yuppies in the Upper West Side and even hipsters in the East Village he will not be able to sell his agenda to Christian families in the midwest and south.

I thought Bloomberg is the mayor of New York City now.
What is with this use of titles long after the person is out of the office?

If Ronald Reagan were running today, the virginal purists would be trashing the divorced former democrat worse than Rudy. The only issue is the WOT.

Well, good luck finding your perfect electable conservative candidate who agrees with you on all issues.
Are you saying that I'm being unreasonable for thinking a GOP candidate should hold as many conservative positions as liberal ones. That would make such a candidate a moderate. On major positions Guiliani has one conservative position.
