I'm less concerned about this than I am with Russia attempting to get us to back down over placing anti-missile systems in former Warsaw pact countries.

Any country which expects to able to defend its borders had better be able to take out overhead satellites.

I don't trust the Red Chinese as far as I can throw them, but this development could be taken as a defensive posture.

In fact, it's really only a matter of time before China replaces the US as the world's #1 superpower. This has become even more apparent given the apparent desire of a majority of Americans to make this happen. For example, we no longer have the will to defend ourselves against Islamic fascism. We make excuses for our enemies. We'd rather fight and defeat George Bush than fight and defeat our enemies in Iraq. Don't tell me it's not all Americans; 60% is enough to make it so.

China, on the other hand, will never kowtow (no pun intended) to an Islamic enemy. Moreover, it has a rapidly growing sense of the need for economic and political freedom. China may never be a "western" democracy, but nor will she ever be the totalitarian threat she was 25 or 30 years ago. That geni simply won't go back in the bottle.

What if the Washington planners responsible for putting all of our eggs in one basket, i.e. building up China's economy to where they can militarily compete with us, was a BIG mistake and has just the opposite effect - they are perfectly willing to incinerate their "key trading partners?" Does anyone ever consider that?

They aren't sending any message. Did Hitler "send a message" in Czechoslovakia? Western liberal governments send messages - the Chinese are simply proceeding with their military expansion (i.e., space program) as intended.

The truth in the pudd'n will be in GW's actions in the next few months. If he proceeds to go Left with the following, we will have to rethink how we restrict our Government's intrusion into our personal lives:

1. Illegal Alien Amnesty - 30 to 60 million more Mexicans
2. Cap on CO2. Proposed 20% cut on auto emissions - rationing and taxes
3. Health Care - The beginning of Socialized Medicine
