you didn't miss anything. worst thing travolta ever did. makes urban cowboy look like an oscar nomination by comparison.
also, the fact that they condensed a not bad, 2,000 page scifi novel into a 2 hour movie didn't help.

Point of order. Let the record show that Battlefield Earth was the worst novel written in the history of mankind. Trees killed themselves to keep from being made into that book. (Actually it wasn't a bad story idea. It was just a novella's worth of story spread over an Atlas Shrugged number of pages.)

Not bad? NOT BAD??? I had heard a rumor that LRon was once a decent writer, and a contemporary of RAH, so I thought , why not? I read that thing thinking the whole time I had gotten past the worst and that it simply had to improve. Boy, was I wrong. That book made "Star Smashers of the Galaxy Rangers" look like "Moby Dick". Even as trashy pulp SciFi, it was bad beyond belief.
