Web Site Kicks Sand in Faces of GIs in Iraq Asking for Mats to Ease Hardship of Sleeping on Ground
January 22, 2007
An American GI assigned to one of the harshest posts in Iraq had a simple request last week for a Wisconsin mattress company: send some floor mats to help ease the hardship of sleeping on the cold, bug-infested ground.
What he got, instead, was a swift kick from the company's Web site, which not only refused the request but added insult to injury with the admonition, "If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq."
Army Sgt. Jason Hess, stationed in Taji, Iraq, with the 1st Cavalry Division, said he emailed his request to Discount-mats.com because he and his fellow soldiers sleep on the cold ground, which contains sand mites, sand flies and other disease carriers.
In his email, dated Jan. 16, 2007, he asked the Web-based company, registered to Faisal Khetani, an American Muslim of Pakistani descent:
"Do you ship to APO (military) addresses? I'm in the 1st Cavalry Division stationed in Iraq and we are trying to order some mats but we are looking for ships to APO first."
On the same day, Hess received this reply:
"SGT Hess,
We do not ship to APO addresses, and even if we did, we would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq.
Bargain Suppliers Discount-Mats.com"
Khetani on Monday told FOX News that the person responsible for the email reply had been fired. The Web site, meanwhile, has been temporarily taken down.

OMG hey there is update the employee got fired I saw update on Fox news tonight BTW I hope they get mats they looking into maybe OOPS maybe shipping to the that US soldiers
"hey there is update the employee got fired"
Ha!
What a snarky reply to the Sgt. Thrilled that the employee was fired.
Well in original Fox news report yeah dude got fired LOL!
GOOD Good news is that US soldier found two companies that wholeheartly would ship mats to Iraq for him
Reply #2: Is there a way to assist the Sgt. and his people with getting mats? As in donations?
They did a story on this on some radio show this morning in DFW, they had a quote from the Soldier involved saying he appreciated all the support, but please stop sending mats, they have no more room for them.
Here's the last sentence of the article
"Hess emailed that he has since found two mat suppliers willing to ship to an APO address in Iraq."
Lol.
Thanks for letting everyone know.
I love that. America supports you...well, lots of us do.
Are we supposed to trust "Faisal Khetani, an American Muslim of Pakistani descent" that this person was fired, I don't think so.
Thanks for the update on this issue.
I can see it now: Left conformists from coast to coast will rally to the defense of the fired employee. High powered treason-profiteer lawyers will file suit on behalf of the unfortunate martyr. Poor Khetani will be pilloried for violating the jihad tool's right of free expression. Never mind that there is no such right when speaking on behalf of an employer, the fired employee can look forward to a lucrative career on the lecture circuit, with nearby Madison as the first stop.
I bet all people working at this biz are related, cousins uncles, ect. If it kills the biz then it's gonna make for fun reunions at Ramadan.
How can this be true when the USA is spending how many billion of dollars a week in Iraqi.....and there are American troops sleeping where?
meesage on the traitorous website at 10:38PM monday nite
"Discount-Mats.com is Experiencing Technical Difficulties...
If you are inquiring about your order, please contact us via phone or email. Thank you for your understanding & patience."
I wanted to leave an "order".
This moved like wildfire through the military community I am in contact with.
