The Most Depressing Poll Ever, Demonrat's desire for failure in the Middle East

In the latest Fox News poll, just out today, the pollsters asked the following question:

Do you personally want the Iraq plan President Bush announced last week to succeed?

Here are the results:

Overall: 63% Yes 22% No 15% Don’t Know

Democrats: 51% Yes 34% No 15% Don’t Know

Republicans: 79% Yes 11% No 10% Don’t Know

Independents 63% Yes 19% No 17% Don’t Know

Friends, I’ll allow you a minute to wrap your minds around this, for we are truly through the looking class. Even though we have some 150,000 troops in harm’s way and we universally profess to “support the troops,” over 1/3 of our society either wants them to fail or doesn’t know if they want them to succeed. Even more chilling are the results regarding our currently dominant political party. 49% of Democrats either want us to lose in Iraq or “don’t know” if they want us to succeed.

I would love to hear why losing in Iraq would be in the national interest. And I would love to hear the humanitarian justification for leaving Baghdad’s civilians to the tender mercies of the murderous militias and terrorists that stalk that city.

And I would also love to hear Democratic leaders respond to these poll numbers. But I won’t hold my breath.

There have been some polls here on FR where if I am not up on the topic, and don't have an opinion; I don't vote on the poll.

Exactly! An an example is the current poll. I have no Idea who "Ron Paul" is. I can't answer the poll the way it is structured. If there was a category "Never Heard Of Him" That would be my choice! It would give a better picture of this guys chances. If the majority of the responses are, "they never head of him" what does that tell his supporters?

I would love to hear why losing in Iraq would be in the national interest.

OK. I'm putting on my moonbat hat here. These opinions are not mine, but I have heard them voiced by others.

IT IS IN THE NATIONAL INTEREST TO LOSE IN IRAQ BECAUSE:

1. ...We are going to lose no matter what. The best possible result is to lose quickly, rather than drawing it out. We are going to lose inevitably, so why waste a lot of blood and treasure putting off the day of our defeat?

2. ...A victory in Iraq will embolden the pro-war advocates in our society and will result in future wars that could be avoided if we followed an enlightened anti-war strategy.

3. ...George Bush (never President Bush, mind you) is so dangerous to our country that he cannot be allowed a victory, because he would use that victory to consolidate power and destroy our democracy. Some people say (to use the Katie Couric formulation) that George Bush does not intend to leave office in 2009, and public goodwill over a victory in Iraq will allow him to remain in office after his term expires.

I am taking off my moonbat hat, and am going to go take a shower now.

The DemonRATs don't want "their money" spent on the military.

Bingo. The Dem leadership will never admit it. Yet a recent Fox poll reveals most Dems feel the need to fail in Iraq. The Dem leadership gnashes their teeth over how much money is spent on the war. To them, that money should be spent buying votes. The Dems probably look at the Repubs as idiots, not for the position on Iraq, but for foolishly spending all that tax payer money on a bottomless pit.

Oops. Forgot one...

IT IS IN THE NATIONAL INTEREST TO LOSE IN IRAQ BECAUSE:

... A US victory in Iraq will infuriate the Islamic World and will result in renewed and more violent attacks on the US. However a US defeat will lead to our withdrawl from the region, so we will no longer be an irritant to them. Once we have tucked our tails and run from the Middle East, they will no longer be mad at us and leave us alone.

OK. I'm really taking that moonbat hat off now, and I'm putting it away in a drawer. Bad hat! BAD HAT!!!

To some democrats the war is just another issue. It really does not exist in their minds. If we lose it props the dems up and pulls the pubbies down. That's fine with them!Never mind the reality of the situation its all politics all the time. They have lost all sense of patriotism or what it should mean to be an American. Sad day.

Today's national Democrat Party resembles the Bolshiviks. Quite frankly, the real war is internal, not from some distant land abroad.

Welcome aboard!

OK. Just one more...

IT IS IN THE NATIONAL INTEREST TO LOSE IN IRAQ BECAUSE:

... A US defeat will guarantee a Democrat President and further Democrat gains in Congress in 2008. Enlightened and steady Democrat leadership will be able to quickly repair any damage left by a US defeat, and will lead to a bright future with fluffy bunnies, budget surpluses, and Kumbaya for all!

OK. Now I really have to cut this out. I'm not sure I can turn it off anymore!

my answer to your moonbat perspective

1. We lose only if our military is handcuffed

2. We have been attacked.. this enemy will not go away or rest until we infidels are destroyed, either by them or self-inflicted implosion such as we are seeing from the treason spewing MSM. any lull in the conflict only allows the enemy to strengthen.

3. fine by me.

The poll may be depressing but it is EXPECTED of the Anti-American, military hating left which comprises the huge majority of Democrats!!

For Dems, the most important issues are abortion and gay rights. Al Qaeda may oppose those things but they appear to be far away. The most immediate enemies are George Bush, who might put a conservative on the Supreme Court, plus right-wing Republicans. If the Democrats can engineer a defeat in Iraq and pin it on Bush and Republican policies, they figure they will be in power for a generation.

How can any American say they wish any plan to fail in Iraq? It doesnt matter who's plan it is I wish any plan that leads to peace success. Any less is treason.

"To them, that money should be spent buying votes"

Exactly. For them all military spending is a bottomless pit unless it is spent buying votes. That is why they push for the draft. With the draft, the citizenry will resist any military venture that puts at risk more people who do not want their lives disrupted by the draft. With the volunteer system, people are there because they elected to be there. They are bearing the sacrifice. With the draft, you impact the culture which is by nature, selfish and more likely to resist any military action and military spending. The sacrifice is too much for them; which plays in the hands of the DemonRATs.

Actually, I thought 34% of Democrats wanting to see failure was probably a little low. Case of people giving the pollsters the answer they think the pollsters want?

No, it's a measure of the hard left/BDS/lunatic fringe. Unfortunately that 34% consists disproportionately of the activists and party leaders.

I wish we could find a way to get that poll out into the public consciousness. So much for the Rats supporting the troops, their mission and certainly they don't mind of tens of thousands of Iraqis fall victim to a civil war.

No, Peach they are PROUD of it.

I saw Maxine Waters on CNN today..and she is very, very proud of wanting that to happen.

I just wonder how they think our military, which is ALL volunteer, meaning they are doing what they CHOSE to do...would feel like, if they were all yanked from Iraq in 6 months...and they sat back here in their bases, watching night after night of slaughtered Iraqis, being mowed down??

Seeing Israel and possibly Kuwait, Turkey, Lebanon being taken over by Iran and radical Islamists??
