Holy Hillary: I Always Prayed
Borrowing a page from President Bush, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton told a Boston audience this week that prayer has always played a meaningful role in her life - though accounts from her days as a student radical suggest that's probably not true.
"I've always been a praying person," Clinton told a crowd of more than 500, including many religious leaders, at Boston's Fairmont Copley Plaza.
According to the Boston Globe, the newly religious former first lady "invoked God more than half a dozen times" as she urged society to accommodate religious people who "live out their faith in the public square."
Though she was raised as a Methodist, Clinton's open embrace of God, along with her insistence that she's "always been a praying person," has to come as a shock to those who remember her college days.
Back then, Clinton was far more likely to be seen reading not the Bible but the writings of Marx and Mao - and had close associations with unabashed Communists, to whom the mere mention of religion was heresy.
One was Robert Treuhaft, who, as noted in the late Barbara Olson's Hillary biography, "Hell to Pay," had "dedicated his entire legal career to advancing the agenda of the Soviet Communist Party."
In 1972 Treuhaft offered the future senator a summer internship at the Universiy of California's Berkeley campus. Clinton accepted, immersing herself in Truehaft's brand of radical Stalinism. When she returned, she was, according to Olson, "a budding Leninist."
If Sen. Clinton was "a praying person" back then, she must have kept it well concealed from her radical mentors.

During the Clinton years, journalists who probed too deeply into Clinton scandals ran terrible risks. Journalists were beaten, wiretapped, framed on criminal charges, fired and blacklisted. They experienced burglaries, IRS audits, smear campaigns and White-House-orchestrated lawsuits.
Some may have paid the ultimate price. In February, 1998, just as the Clinton impeachment was gathering steam, Sandy Hume, the 28-year-old son of Fox News anchorman Brit Hume, suddenly turned up dead of a gunshot to the head. He was covering the U.S. Congress for the magazine The Hill, and was known for his excellent sources among Republican insiders. Sandy Hume supposedly committed suicide, but friends and associates have questioned the official story.
Some of the White House “secret police” were private detectives, such as Terry Lenzner, Jack Palladino and Anthony Pellicano. Others were Clinton loyalists embedded in federal intelligence and law enforcement agencies such as the FBI, the CIA, the IRS, the NTSB and so on. Many of these people are still in place, and still doing the Clintons’ dirty work. I call them the Shadow Team.
FP: How does Hillary fit into all this?
Poe: Hillary is the muscle end of the Clinton mafia. It was she who organized and led the Shadow Team. Her role as White House enforcer was first revealed by the late Barbara Olson.
Mrs. Olson was a former federal prosecutor who served from 1995 to 1996 as Chief Investigative Counsel for the Clinger Committee – Rep. William F. Clinger Jr.’s House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, which probed the Filegate and Travelgate affairs. The evidence Mrs. Olson uncovered convinced her that Hillary Clinton had, among other things, conspired to use the Federal Bureau of Investigation unlawfully to intimidate, punish, harass, frame and otherwise harm innocent people who stood in her way.
In her 1999 book Hell to Pay, Mrs. Olson wrote, “Hillary is not merely an aider and abettor to this secret police operation. She has been its prime instigator and organizer. … In one White House scandal after another, all roads led to Hillary. To investigate White House improprieties and scandals, the evidence necessarily led to her hidden hands guiding the Clinton operation.”
FP: This is actually quite incredible. How did Hillary get away with all of this? Surely Ken Starr would have jumped on any excuse to indict Hillary, no?
Poe: Well, as I explain in my book, there are two Ken Starrs. There’s the imaginary Ken Starr conjured up by Big Media – a ruthless, rightwing religious zealot, bent on toppling the Clintons. Then there’s the real Ken Starr – a timid bureaucrat, afraid of his own shadow, who shrank from investigating any of the truly serious Clinton scandals. On the contrary, Starr actively helped to suppress and whitewash evidence of Clinton wrongdoing.

In fact, however, the public record shows that Clinton worked for Robert Treuhaft, a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) and Harvard-trained lawyer for the party.
Citing public sources, Peter Flaherty’s book, The First Lady (Vital Issues Press, 1996), says that “Hillary was recommended to Treuhaft by some of her professors at Yale. She was looking for a ‘movement’ law firm to work at for the summer. As it turns out, Hillary would continue her association and support of the Black Panther cause while working as a law clerk for Treuhaft.” Flaherty notes that Treuhaft told Herb Caen of the San Francisco Examiner, “That was the time we were representing the Black Panthers, and she worked on that case.”

Bill and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) "put their PR spin machine into high gear" following the death of author Barbara Olson in an effort to halt publication of her forthcoming Final Days book, according to a report on NewsMax.com. Olson, the wife of U.S. Solicitor General Ted Olson, was among those killed when a hijacked commercial airliner crashed into the Pentagon on Sept. 11.
She was a famed Republican lawyer-activist and had served as a congressional investigator in several capacities, including that of chief investigative counsel to the House Committee on Government Reform and Oversight. Final Days, which chronicles the doings of the Clintons as they prepared to depart the White House, follows her earlier book on Hillary, Hell to Pay.
In her latest book, due to be released by Regnery, Olson describes the departing president as "incoherent" and his wife as obsessed with carting off national treasures.
News Max.com quotes Tom Winter of the Washington-based Human Events newspaper as saying that "within a week of the dreadful attack on Sept. 11, powerful friends of Hillary Rodham Clinton tried to stop the publication of this book."
Apparently the nature of the threat was that attacks would be made on Olson's reputation, a tactic linked to the Clintons in the past when they hoped to silence negative comment or opposition.
