That's an outright falsehood. The world's top polluter is *CHINA*. Can't that get through their thick heads ? We got clean engines, catalytic converters, and scrubbers on our smokestacks. In China it rains sulphuric acid or worse, and there's a brown cloud over most of China and India caused by the burning of manure for fuel. The primary cause of death in China is pulmonary disease, caused by pollution or government supported smoking.

Yes, and pollution in the old Soviet Union was horrendous. Far worse than anything we could even imagine here in the US.
But now that CO2 is considered "pollution," the US is the worse "polluter" simply by virtue of being the most economically developed and therefore using the most energy.
