Looks like we have to redo the Reagan revolution from the ground up. The people who give the party its power must take the party back.

If that can not be done soon there is no hope for the GOP. It will be the Democratic Party Clone and it almost is now. You have to realize those holding the purse strings in the RNC and many of the GOP elected leaders of today who have been handpicked by a Rockefeller GOP administration despise every good thing Reagan did for this nation.

For anyone to think this appointment has nothing to do with illegal entry into this nation insults peoples intelligence. The RNC has major say over who gets GOP support of course he has major influence in party platform.

I really don't know. Haley Barbour was good. Mehlman seems to have been good on a nuts-and-bolts level, but not ideologically. As far as I can tell, there is a severe leadership vacuum, and talent vacuum, at the higher levels of the GOP right now. I think our position is as bad as it's been since the late '70s, at least.

Let's hope he recruits GOP candidates who can win election in BLUE states. What a novelty, huh?

Ronald Reagan won in blue states. Conservatism wins. Why are you always here hoping that the party continues to move further to the left - away from conservatism - and that more and more liberal candidates get the nomination and that Republicans will vote for them anyway?

"snarky is a good word"

I like "snarky". I'm "snarky". Most liFRs should be snarky, given what we have to put up with.

Are you implying that, because several GOP defeated candidates maintained high ACU ratings, we should compromise our beliefs and back candidates who move to the left in an effort to "appeal" to moderates and centrist democrats?

Funny, I don't remember Ronald Reagan doing that, and he won a few blue states, didn't he?

Might be the death of the Republican Party. I am sure Hillary is laughing her head off and celebrating.

It will not be the death of the Republican Party. Politics are cyclical like everything else. Just two years ago conservatives were talking seriously about the death of the Democratic Party and not just a short time later they have been reborn.

I received a phone call last night from Young College Republicans.. said they are really angry at what has been going on their campuses since the election and are raising money for ads on stations like Fox... I will donate to individuals and individual groups, no more to the RNC.

>>You're right about that! I must admit, I was totally happy with Haley Barbour sitting in the RNC Chair. He's now my state's governor and I am equally thrilled about that.<<

I feel terrible for the suffering of the people in Louisiana after Katrina but if there was ever an example of why you should elect a governor with good conservative sense instead of a pie in the sky, corrupt, promise maker then Barbour versus Blanco etched it in stone.

They should of picked Michael Savage! That would be interesting. I wish Thomas Sowell would also become a RNC Committeeman.

Buy a clue dual forum poster.

The presidential election is not the only game in town.

We need majorities -- huge majorities in congress and that means it's necessary to elect moderate Republicans in solid blue states. Check history, if you dare. Look at the majorities when Roosevelt "reigned."

BTW, you failed miserably with Graf --- a true conservative in a red state which is a border state no less!!! THAT should tell you something, but you'll blame the RNC for not supporting him enough, when in fact, winning candidates raise and attract money and voters.

RWR was one of a kind --- the best in my lifetime --- and yet, he ran against the likes of a vastly incompetent Carter and a totally weak Mondale.

Pull yourself out of the past and take a look at this country now. Good grief, I don't know why I wasted my time replying to you.
