Once again, The Harris Poll has asked U.S. adults "Who is your favorite TV personality?" and for the fifth year in a row, Oprah Winfrey lands in the No. 1 position as America's favorite television personality.
Jon Stewart is No. 2 for the second year, while Bill O'Reilly moves up one notch to No. 3. Next is a newcomer to the list -- Hugh Laurie (star of the television show, "House"), who debuts in fourth place, while veteran late night host David Letterman drops from No. 3 to No. 5. Letterman's rival, Jay Leno, is No. 6 on the list (dropping from 2005 when he was tied for No. 4).
These are the results of a nationwide Harris Poll of 1,162 U.S. adults surveyed online.
Besides Laurie, there are two other new TV personalities who make it into the top 10 list, one for the first time and one from previous years. Ray Romano returns at No. 7 while "24's" Kiefer Sutherland, who plays "Jack Bauer" on that show, makes his debut on the list, tied for No. 8. Rounding out the top 10 are two repeats -- Ellen DeGeneres and Conan O'Brien, who are also tied for No. 8 on this list. DeGeneres dropped from No. 6 while O'Brien dropped from No. 7.
Three people dropped off the list: Jerry Seinfeld (previously ranked No. 8), George Lopez (previously No. 9) and Tim Allen (previously No. 10). Interestingly, the list lost three sitcom stars and gained two drama stars and one sitcom star. This might be an indication of what types of television shows viewers are watching.
Not surprisingly, there are differences in favorite television personality when it comes to some demographic breaks. Women cite Oprah as their top television personality, but men choose a different talk show host -- Bill O'Reilly.
There are also interesting age breaks: Echo Boomers (ages 18 to 29) say Conan O'Brien is No. 1, while Gen Xers (ages 30 to 41) turn away from talk and say Hugh Laurie is their favorite television personality. Baby Boomers (ages 42 to 60) say Oprah is their favorite while Matures (ages 61 and over) say it is Bill O'Reilly.
Finally, even with television stars, political boundaries are drawn. Conservatives say Bill O'Reilly is No. 1 while liberals say Jon Stewart is their favorite.

Oprah Viewers Patiently Awaiting Instructions
CHICAGO, IL–With nearly three weeks having passed since talk-show host Oprah Winfrey last issued an official command, approximately 60 million Oprah Winfrey Show viewers are on standby, stationed in front of their television sets and patiently awaiting further instructions from their leader.
We must be patient with Oprah," said Winfrey fan Melanie Leupke, 44, of Stillwater, OK. "Ours is not to question why she is taking so long. When the time is right and we are needed again, Oprah will tell us what to do."
"What book should I read? What low-fat lemon-bread recipes should I use? What made-for-TV movies should I watch to give me a sense of empowerment?" asked Pamela Kolb, a Mundelein, IL, homemaker and one of the approximately 13,000 Oprah viewers huddled outside her studio. "In these complex times, it can be frightening to have to go three weeks without any guidance from a television personality. But we must remain true to Oprah's vision. Our duty is to stay focused and on full alert until new orders are issued."

I have not the slightest idea why people are so taken in by this woman.
Did you hear about her friend Sylvia Brown, the ESP lady? She told the Ownbys that their son was dead in a field...and when that way proven wrong, she told them she could tell them what happened for $750.00 an hour....E.D. Hill reported on FNC the other morning....
All these people she has on her show are phoneys and nothing is great about this show....true she has more class than 'rosie' but she's of the same mold...only what she can do for herself and to heck with everyone else....
I wonder why the MSM hasn't been playing her recent comments about America's school children.....I think she'd lose some viewers over that!
I was down to my last bit of couth today, but I'm trying to obtain a tad more tommorrow. ta-ta! ;)
Did you see the interview? I am a conservative and I am livid and angry at FOXNEWS for the callousness and viciousness I have seen and heard from them regarding the Hornbeck family and the Oprah appearance. Oprah handled that situation in a careful, loving way and I think Americans will judge the cruelty of the FOX talk show people and their comments on this, minus Gretta..Of course, she is a lawyer and has, no doubt, some training along the lines of what happens to crime victims. These families have been through something that very few people will ever have to face and the Hornbecks, especially, have been courageous and unrelenting in their search for their son. My daughter, who is an attorney, and I, an RN with Psychiatric Nursing experience, watched the program together and were very moved by the honesty and just plain humanitarian support received by these families and especially, Shawn, through Oprah and her wonderful audience. A big deal on FOX was the question to the parents about whether Shawn was sexually molested..They just affirmed what anyone with any brain development at all would already know..These child abductors are ALL sexual molesters. Why don't we just deny reality some more and hide from people the facts of every matter so we can stick our heads in the sand and do nothing to punish the perps..I find Bill O'Riley insincere about child molestation when he rants about the molestation of a young child and suggests that an 11 year old could do something to stop his imprisonment and molestation if he wanted to..The judge on FOX even suggested that the parent's appearance on Oprah was child abuse..CHILD ABUSE!!!?????I suggest that the uninformed remarks made by this network by arm chair experts comes a lot closer to abuse of children and adults than anything those parents have done. If I were these parents, I would never appear on the FOX network for any reason..All this is from a former FOX fan..No more!
...and for the fifth year in a row, Oprah Winfrey lands in the No. 1 position as America's favorite television personality.
Men, we must act now to bring this evil reign to an end!
Thanks, Txroadkill. You gave me a good laugh..I needed that!
I get very concerned when she gets involved in Politics and just watch her with the Obama hysteria.
Sheeple (ok women and I am embarrassed to say that because I are one) follow her blindly. Craziness.
She may be tops for the last 5 years; but, I haven't seen her show 5 times EVER!
