Three aircraft carriers in the Middle East?
To: maquiladora
Would that make three carrier groups over there? What in the world is Bush planning?

From what I heard the Reagan was being deployed to cover for the Stennis which was due to deploy to the West Pacific but is being sent to the Gulf instead.
This is the first time I've heard that the Reagan's deployment is directly related to the military build up in the region but it could be just poor journalism.

I never wanted to be in the Navy, but if I had the honor of
serving on this ship, I'd have to reconsider. Semper Fi ...

This is probably a regular deployment, and they'll be in the Indian Ocean in a few weeks. They don't need to go into the Gulf to hit Iran, and they probably wouldn't want to.

Hopefully kick ass, take names and then come home. I do however expect them to say nothing until they are done so the NYT will not put our military operations on page one.

Go git 'em!
I would not like to speculate on what Ronnie will be doing... but interdicting supply and support for terrorists in Iraq might involve operations on both sides of the Iran/Iraq border...

I think if we are about to poke Akhmed-in-a-Jihad in the eye that the RWR would be the ship most justly named to launch the poking from, given the great one's feared reputation in Persia.

I think he's planning to send a message.
To: maquiladora
I didn't know we sent an aircraft carrier to cover an aircraft carrier.
