Everything VDH mentions in this piece, we Freepers have recognized and known from the beginning. I am just about mentally exhausted. You try explaining this to people and they just do not or will not get it. I use to think it was me - maybe I was not articulate enough, maybe it was my manner. Over the years, I have listened and read from people much smarter than I. VDH for one. Rush, Mark Levin, Mark Steyn, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Alan Keyes. Of all the talk and articles, I have not seen or heard one liberal change their views. It's amazing. The muslim cabbies in Minnesota do not want people in their cabs with alchohol containers. Yet, every time I go to Sam's or Costco, I see them in there, walking amongst the bottles of beer and wine. I heard on the news this week that - I believe it is Northwestern - the muslims want a separate prayer room at sports facilities so they may pray. But no one mentions that if they are so devout why are they in a location that serves alcohol and pork? The world has gone crazy and the anit-American libs want to see American defeated.

VDH raises some good points here, but this "we must win or else" mantra is getting tiresome. The biggest problem is not that the anti-war movement has gained political clout in recent years -- it is that people like VDH are pushing a "victory" scenario that is filled with holes and inconsistencies.

For one thing, nobody (including eloquent voices on this issue like VDH) has ever been able to clearly explain how the establishment of an Islamic state -- and a Marxist one at that -- in the Middle East is in the best interests of the United States, does anything to promote American ideals in the Middle East, etc. And nobody has ever been able to clearly explain how the heck the U.S. could possibly wage a "war on terror" anywhere else in the world in the aftermath of that idiotic 9/11 commission whose sole purpose was to cover up the incompetence and/or malfeasance of people in the upper reaches of the U.S. government (on both sides of the aisle) in protecting the citizenry of this country over the last 10-15 years.

This is the kind of nonsense that makes objective conservatives like me utterly cynical about what the hell the real agenda is here.

*** You try explaining this to people and they just do not or will not get it.***

Part of the problem is that we and lefties do not speak the same language, or rather use the same parts of our brain. They operate on emotions, on feelings, which cannot be changed by argument and logic. So we talk past each other.

I have resolved to speak "leftie" to my friends who believe that Bush is the reason for all problems.

Example: How do you feel about prayer rooms in public schools?
