Not only are we winning, but we have kept the KIA to a minimum. I don't care if it takes longer if we protect our troops.
This phony question that the left always asks.....why haven't all Americans been asked to sacrifice.
I want to ask, just what they mean, what to they have in mind?
They have in mind raising taxes and using the WOT as an excuse.

I just don't understand those who scream about how important victory is in Iraq and how grave defeat would be but will ignore or be outright hostile to anyone who points out the flaws in the plans that if goes unchecked will lead to defeat.

Thank you for this great read jveritas. I agree.
There used to be a time and a place when it was fine to discuss policy and such. Now we have Internet and the whole world (including our enemies) can know and plan their strategy for our defeat by reading our news outlets. I'm sure it gives them great pleasure to see us (the whole country, not just FR) divided and fighting amongst ourselves.
What is wrong with WAITING to see how the surge plan works out instead of yelling from the rooftops that it won't work before it's even implemented? We are running out of options..we need to band together to fight them over there and to fight the media here. We have to win this-not for just Iraq--for US!!

There are some who are very vocal in opposing the President plan and the war, and no I will not quote them, you will find them in almost very thread related to the war.

Bravo!
While the number of defeatists on this forum is rather small, they are still here.
Might I add that these defeatists seem to have been suckered by the MSM full-court-press to lose this effort. Their lack of patience and gullibility is appalling.

"I don't think anyone here is giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Without specific examples, it is nothing but hot air and smoke."
Agree, I see some debate on tactics, operations, and strategy that folks don't agree on the way it is being handled. I believe this is a way to stifle debate.

The so called conservatives I hear, and who call themselves Reagan conservatives, want only to say I told you so, Bush is not Reagan.
Well, I'll not go into Reagan's record here but suffice it to say, I think.....thank G-D Bush is no Reagan.

"achieve complete victory"
Define this in the context of Iraq, please.
That is what the entire argument hinges upon.
The president has redefined "victory".
I do not support the president's new definition, so I can not support "achieving complete victory" when the president doesn't really mean "victory" in the military sense of the word.
To: spikeytx86
As some one who supports victory without qualification I am a little disturbed by your suggestion that we give blanket support for the president. If his plans fail in Iraq like they have so far,Stopped reading right there.........

While I can appreciate your frustration, discussions on FR hardly rise to the level of "aid and comfort to the enemy."
Let's not get hyperbolic here.

I see. So either you agree 100% with the President on all matters without question or you're with the terrorists.
I really hope I'm not the only one tired of idiots who cry "Treason!" every time they hear a differing opinion.

To this point they have. Time will not magically make failed plans into winners. Every war we have ever fought has required major strategy shifts and not just cosmetic. We are being to soft on the violence in Iraq. The presidents plan, if actually implemented as stated, will be a great start, but there still will be a need for tens of thousands more soldiers to pacify the rest of the violent areas in the country. We also need to obliterate al-sadr and his militia before there can be any stability in the country.
For all those who are proclaiming that we are winning this war, even the President has said in so many words this a last ditch effort to salvage the war. If this effort fails, we will be out of there by easter 08'.

I wonder how many people here who scream at anyone who criticizes the handling of the war thus far would be doing so if Bush had a D after his named. It would probably depend on the D, but I suspect generally it would be few. The mood here during the Kosovo action was very anti-war.

LOL Great thread, jveritas!
You've got them crawling out of the woodwork, in defensive posture.
God bless George Bush, who has more intestinal fortitude than all of Congress combined... matched only by his right-hand man, VP Cheney! :-)
