An outfit called GrassRootsFreedom.com is reporting that the U.S. Senate is considering legislation that would require political bloggers with readership over 500 to register as lobbyists. If they fail to register, they could face criminal penalties up to one year in jail.
"Section 220 of S. 1, the lobbying reform bill currently before the Senate, would require grassroots causes, even bloggers, who communicate to 500 or more members of the public on policy matters, to register and report quarterly to Congress the same as the big K Street lobbyists.

Just try and stop me. Seriously...please try and stop me. It's time to take this to the streets.
I believe McCain is involved. I remember reading he was leading this a few weeks ago. That said, we can rest assured if this makes it to SCOTUS it will be after 2008 and who knows what the makeup of the court will be then.
These people are clinically and criminally insane.
On second thought, be worried, very worried.

"hope all Americans get to see what the left would really do to America given a chance"
ROTFLMAO!
That's a good one!!
You're KIDDING, right??
Are they going to put it in the 20 Second News brief before "Idol"???
How about the 5Pm Lead-in during "Oprah"?
Will it be on the Sheeple's Cellphone news delivery??
WE had the Majority, but OUR timidness let the Dems control THE AGENDA.....
The rats, due to Johnson (bless him) are paying big $$ to peel off any Senator they possibly can.
I've seen it asserted that you're incorrect here. The piece that addresses that is here...
The term `paid attempt to influence the general public or segments thereof' does not include an attempt to influence directed at less than 500 members of the general public.
Perhaps it's vague (typical wording to allow abuse), but it seems to identify that "paid" applies to the attempt to influence over 500 people.
For liberals, free speech is only for porn peddlers ...
Pretty much so, which is why I worded it as "hope" and not an expectation. Sadly, the MSM has sold their collective souls to the devil and aren't at all concerned about truth...in fact, they appear to see truth as an obstacle to be overcome.
I wouldn't worry too much, the ACLU will never let that happen.;-/
No but it gives the government a handy list of whom to suddenly charge with blogging infractions and shut them down for the duration of an election.
We all tried to explain it to them, but noooooooo, they knew better. Same people are saying they will vote third party in 2008 even knowing that is how we got Bill Clinton in the first place.
Why do you think SCOTUS will strike it down? How much different is it from CFR?
IT will never get to them before 2008, which is what people like McCain or Hillary are counting on... by then who knows what other rights they will manage to strip away from us commoners.
That's right it specifically states people communicating to 500 or more people to contact congress about any matter.
