Well, what do you expect? Rudy is speaking to Europeans to take anti-semetism more seriously. Given that it is a big problem on the continent - and has been for ages - his comments are not misplaced at all. They do need to clean up their act on this issue.

I particularly like this paragraph:

I am thankful that I grew up in Brooklyn, where every conceivable ethnicity can be experienced within a few square miles. In New York, and in the United States in general, we pray with many voices -- in churches, in synagogues, and in mosques -- and we see that diversity of faith as one of our most important assets. All faiths suffered on Sept. 11, but they also all were strengthened.

I have to give anyone credit who's willing to lecture Europeans.

Except here he is castigating the Europeans for not being radical enough on thought control and hate crimes.

Forgive my denseness, but I can't seem to find where that quote came from.

The quote: "Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it."

Here's one citation of it, from TIME magazine: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,988620-2,00.html (that URL takes you to page 2 of the article, where the quote is, but you might want to go back to page 1 and read the whole thing -- at least if you're in the mood for a satirical takedown of Rudy)

How closely aligned in philosophy is Guiliani to Abe Foxman? Does Guiliani believe the New Testament of the Bible is a "hate book" like Foxman and the ADL.

Do you or anybody know?

Read the whole article. What he is proposing goes far, far beyond anti-semitism.

Especially revealing is his disclosure that he took an intense personal interest in knowing in real time every last isolated incident involving impermissible "hate" against Muslims in NYC in the wake of 9/11.

The man is essentially giving notice that he will fanatically hound and hunt down "hateful" Americans with every federal dog in his kennel if he is given keys to the White House.

That might be an ineffectual threat if made by some people. Not ex-prosecutor Rudy. No man drawing breath in America today knows better how to punish people than Rudy Giuliani.

Than why, pray tell, are you supporting a Rockefeller Republican like RG?

There are certain qualities about Rudy that doesn't make him a RINO.

(1) He cut taxes and spending in NYC
(2) He cracked down on crime
(3) Gun control, gay marriage, abortion were already the norm in NYC and weren't a priority because public safety was #1
(4) He promoted school choice & ended affirmative-action quotas
(5) The pic of him in the dress? Reaganesque humor and wit
(6) He responded brilliantly after 9/11

I have no problem with Rudy winning the GOP nomination IF he chooses a strong conservative VP. Abortion & gay marriages are states' issues and Rudy isn't stupid enough to run on gun-control.

Rudy's supporters are in awe of his aggressive take-no-prisoners attitude. They foolishly suppose that he will have no interest or opportunity to direct his intense prosecutor's zeal against them in his vain pursuit of perfecting society, of ridding it of its supposed "hate."

Rudy loves power. He WILL exercise it. He's smart enough to know his way around the laws to get EXACTLY what he wants--federalism and state power be damned.

..There is precedent for collecting such data nationally. The Hate Crimes Statistics Act, passed by Congress in 1990, requires the federal government to acquire data on crimes that "manifest prejudice based on race, religion, sexual orientation, or ethnicity." This information is an invaluable tool to police officials. It also holds them, and our elected officials, accountable for increases in hate crimes within their jurisdictions....

see? this is what I mean when I say this guy is "Lefty." He can not help it... He is what he is. It seems our dear Gulliani has gone "European" on us... Just like some members of the Supreme Court reach for Europe's wisdom to apply it here in the US. You know, one thing I know... I don't want the U.S. to be like "Europe."

*** This is NOT GOOD Rudy! ***

Forgive me for being paranoid... But why do I smell the hands of the "queer-agenda" in all this? They are experts in co-opting other people's problems or circumstances, to hide themselves among them. I am sure there must be cases of hate crimes in this country (for all kinds of groups, homos, Latins, Muslims, Jews, Catholics... Italians...You name it), but in this country, those are punished severely enough with the Laws we have. But today "Hate-crimes" to me is "code" for the queer-agenda. First they wanted to co-opt the civil rights from the blacks... Now... I WILL BET YOU... Their hand is behind this... And as we all know Rudy is pro-homo all the way.

I will bet you, this guy would PUSH FOR HOMOS IN THE MILITARY!... And so on. Am I paranoid? Am I? :)

I'll defend reason and comparative choices my friend. If you wish to attack him on issues fine but I will not allow people like you to define terms unchallenged.

Rudy would accelerate the headlong rush of this nation into the social liberal hell that already counts Europe among its tenants.

Rudy would wield great and fearsome power while Reid and Pelosi control Congress. The three of them might disagree on some things, but they would be foursquare in favor of criminalizing and punishing "slackers" who refuse to buy into their social liberal agenda.
