President Bush met with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in the Oval Office today.
President Bush also welcomed the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals to the White House this afternoon.
Vice President Cheney was at the Pentagon speaking at the naming ceremony of the USS Gerald R Ford.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice continues her travels and meetings in the mid-east.
First Lady Laura Bush continues her three-day visit to France, touring a number of landmarks in Paris.
President Bush has proclaimed today (Tuesday January 16th) as "Religious Freedom Day." In the presidential proclamation, Bush said today commemorates the passage of the 1786 Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, which was written by Thomas Jefferson, and to celebrate the First Amendment's protection of the right to worship freely.
The proclamation notes that people in other parts of the world don't enjoy the same liberty, and many face religious persecution. Bush calls the freedom of worship" a gift from the Almighty", and he says the United States, quote, "Must continue to promote the importance of religious freedom at home and abroad."
I love post #17, it's a touching photo of Lance Cpl. Watson and President Bush. And your commentary is wonderful. Congratulations on a very good Dose.
GEM! You're baaaaaack!
After all that dreary rain (and flooding), I could use some of the beautiful white stuff to make things brighter.
When is Lovely Laura getting back home where she belongs? :)
The one thing I love about the Dose is that the next day IF there is even any pix of POTUS, VPOTUS, Condi, Laura etc you can bet it will be among the worst pix available. WE would NOT know the difference if we didn't see all the good ones here.
I am sure you have your challenges with juggling time decisions. Late pix postings & often just few or none, You folks are always creative.
I am sorry to see Mike & ohio have dropped out as posters,,,I know ohio was ready for a sabbitical & Mike has been sick
Hoping Mike is doing better.
I hear ya, snugs. I hear ya!
I use the mental image of steering a car or a boat when I come across these conservative 100%ers. Unless the helm or the wheel is kept near the center of its range, the course cannot be kept and no progress can be made.
We always have to remember that steering in the direction we want to go involves getting more people to go our way than our opponents get.
FR has always had the 100%ers - many were Keyes or Buchanan supporters. They will never get a majority to see the world their way.
Hi darlin~ if I could I would send some of ours your direction. We got hammered today.
be glad to ship some to ya! We got 8 inches of the stuff, the city plows just make the streets worse! Most of the street are like ice rinks! The sun came out and melted just the top, so it refroze, now every parking lot and street is just glazed!
I'm definitely only sub-list material until May, but I'll be back at it for the final year and a half.........AHHHHHHHH!!!!! I don't want this to be over........EVER!
