FORT WORTH A Euless man who pleaded guilty to placing a dog in a washing machine last year and then turning it on was sentenced Tuesday to one year in prison.
The dog was scalded before managing to escape, but she was caught and locked in a closet for several days in February 2006.
Eventually, the dog was taken to a Grapevine animal shelter, where she was euthanized after antibiotics failed to stop the swelling from the burns.
Chad Ellis, 32, was sentenced on a charge of animal cruelty.
In addition to the animal cruelty charge, Ellis was sentenced to five years probation on each of three counts of burglary of a building and on two counts of theft of $1,500 to $20,000. Those crimes, which were unrelated to the animal cruelty case, occurred in the summer of 2005.
One year is not enough.
2 more years, on me :(
Whattadick...
Hmmmmm.....
POS
Sounds like he watched one too many "Beavis and Butthead" episodes.
"Washing the daaaawg.....washing the daaaawg!!!!"
They always act like tough guys around the defenseless, be they animals or children. Big guys like that ought to take on big guys their own size...but they never do, because all bullies are cowards...
One year? Child abusers don't get that much time...justice system is upside down.
Yup, ... it starts with animal abuse .........
Hope he stocks up on soap on the rope
Death penalty.
That is absurd. If the judge has not given birth to a dog, then how can he know how bad that action is? < / barbara boxer mode >
One year in prison and he may not even do all of that term. Much tougher penalties must be legislated in animal cruelty cases because current punishment for these offenders doesn't fit the crime and is no deterrent.
Absolutely true! and does not make any sense!... But that does not mean they should have let this guy go unscathed!
That, and Smokey, the Volunteers mascot.
HEY HEY HEY..be nice, at least we don't crawl around in foul swamp water..:-)
Such crimes demand punishment in kind. I am not joking.
