"I am constantly amazed at people who use a "car service" to go places." "This author implied that having the same "car service" all these years should've entitled him to deferential treatment"

Take a breather from being amazed :) Just as a bus is not a subway neither is a car service a taxi. Different.

And speaking of words that begin with a "d" and have an "f" as its third letter, I too expect deference from a car service driver, a taxi driver, or to anyone else I hire. That is the norm.

To: I see my hands

??? Being amazed doesn't usually leave me breathless. Being scared, stressed out, winded - those things leave me asthmatic and breathless, but being amazed when I hear someone acting snooty is not usually among them.

I'm very aware that a bus is not a subway, lol, living in a city that's only 4 feet above sea level. And I'm aware that a car service is somehow not a taxi. That was my point! It's an affectation to give the impression that taking public transportation is somehow having the VIP treatment.

If you expect deference from any of those retail entities, you're probably constantly disappointed.
