"That decision is rightly up to the states to decide themselves."
Sorry, I'm still not getting this. You're either a part of the United States or you're not. You can't have it both ways. Why would you want to fly a flag indicating you're not? By your logic, if a state wanted to fly a Muslim flag or a Mexican flag, it would be Ok, because it's "up to the states to decide."
The Hawaiian flag must cause no end of consternation to you. There's this little thing called history, you see.
Your town isn't the only thing small about you, slick. Such pettiness is putrid and childish.
Perhaps you can change your FR name from "smalltownslick" to "smalltownhick".
Nice strawman argument. FReepers here will have fun using you for verbal target practice.
"You're either a part of the United States or you're not. You can't have it both ways."
Nonsense. I'm American and Southern. Proud to be both. The old, "American by birth, Southern by the grace of God" reflects a true sentiment.
"Sorry, I'm still not getting this. You're either a part of the United States or you're not. You can't have it both ways. Why would you want to fly a flag indicating you're not?"
Try this, slick, California and Texas still proudly fly their respective republic flags from when they were not part of the U.S. Why do they do this?
Same reason as SC. If you can't get that, whistle Dixie.
I find this interesting. If California put the Mexican flag on the statehouse grounds in Sacramento, should it be considered objectionable?
I don't know if the Texas statehouse has the six flags.
So...if it were up to you they would change the name of the amusement parks to "One Flag Over Georgia" and "One Flag Over Texas" and all the rest?
Check out the state flags of Hawaii with the Union Jack, Mississippi with the stars and bars, New Mexico, Alabama with St. Andrew's cross, etc. Most state flags relate to their own unique history and not whether they are part of the US or not. It is all about federalism and the individual states which comprise the Union.
fly what the hell you want, leave my flag alone.
