Jersey judge up for circuit court post Hillman is expected to be Bush's nominee Tuesday, January 09, 2007 BY ROBERT COHEN STAR-LEDGER WASHINGTON BUREAU WASHINGTON -- President Bush is expected to nominate Noel Hillman, a longtime prosecutor and a newly appointed federal judge in New Jersey, to an opening on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Reliable political sources said Hillman is currently undergoing a background investigation needed before he can be formally nominated to fill the federal appeals court seat vacated a year ago by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. "It's pretty close. It's what the White House wants to do," said one knowledgeable source who asked not to be identified.

Harriet Miers was the key moment for me.

Okay....this is disgusting...WHO gave Pres. Bush the push to nominate this guy???

From what I have read..he is really good at starting invesigations...he just doesn't follow through.

Look at his record...it is pitiful.

Now, Harriet Miers didn't even get a confirmation hearing because of the hue and cry of everyone (even though I wasn't happy about the hysteria her nomination got)...let's git er done agin!!!

Off the top of my head, this is three judicial nominations in the last year that are a disgrace. Milan Smith (Gordon's brother) was confirmed and we currently have Janet Neff, late of the Progressive Womens (or is it Womyns?) Alliance of Western Michigan, now this.

How many other less than stellar candidates have slipped by?

Miers to Bush: We need to nominate someone for this seat.

Bush to Miers: Who should we nominate?

Miers to Bush: It depends, do we want someone who will sail through, or someone who will be a fight?

Bush to Miers: Someone who will sail through, call up Lautenberg and Menendez and make sure it is someone they are ok with.

Miers to Bush: Will do.

Why corrupt Noel Hillman? Surely there are honest and competent judges. Or is President Bush in bed with Clinton/Berger?

I think it is worse than that. I am beyond disappointed. I don't think Fred Fielding has started work yet, so is this Harriet Meirs? This guy is dishonest. Just what we want in a judge???

I'll say it's the guy at the end of the second row, bending over to the side.

I don't know....the timing of this nomination and Miers' retirement doesn't give me any clue about who is to blame.

If this is a Miers recommendation, I would think that Fielding would go over all vacancies, and all potential nominees with either her or even Pres. Bush before they would put them to the Senate....I would think.

You notice that several of Bush's older nominees withdrew their names...supposedly because they didn't want to wait, and probably new with a Dem senate they didn't have a chance anyway.

But that happened around the time that we heard about Miers also...

I wonder if we should contact Bush, Fielding, SPECTER (ugh)??? Sessions, Cornyn and Kyl were on the Judiciary committee last session...if they still are, maybe we should contact them, and tell them NOT to vote him out of committee..

But, then that would make the Dems WANT him more...unless Hillary has already put out the word to get it done...
