Meltdown! The world is feeling the heat of global warming. (Please help me!)

"In 15 years, scientists say, the snows of Kilimanjaro will simply melt away. ... Kilimanjaro is not the only place that is threatened. Glaciers and polar ice are melting. Coral reefs are dying as the seas get too warm. Lakes and rivers in colder climates are freezing later and thawing earlier each year, disrupting the life cycles of native plants and animals. What is causing this breakdown in nature?

Your second link shows nothing. The earth is a solar heat sink . You've made claim after claim that cannot be backed up. You believe the earth creates global warming fine.

I guess the earth just feels like getting warmer sometimes.

I can not find a good source but just look at this pic:

The red area is over 1000 deg C. That thin blue line is the crust with the lower part of the crust over 900 deg C.

Even if the crust of the earth was the best insulator we know of we would still get a lot of heat from it. The earth is a ball of fire with a small thin egg shell. If we don’t get most of our heat from the mantle I would like to understand HOW?

Can anyone recommend a good open-minded, even analysis of the underlying basic science?

No I can't but call all your liberal friends and asked them to drive to Oklahoma and help them shovel out and spread salt on the streets........

Why does snow accumulate on the earth's surface if what you claim is true?

I am enjoying a rare NY winter with minimal snow

Speak for yourself! Here in S.E. Michigan, no cold, no ice, no icefishing for perch! Winter here sucks!

My heart goes out to you Coloradans. I've got plenty of family up there and according to them, life up there has been pretty much at a standstill since their first major storm. They're getting pretty weary of it.

Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1500 Years

I haven't yet read this one, but I've heard the authors interviewed and they seem competent.

Bjorn Lomborg's The Skeptical Environmentalist.

Thats a great book! Well-sourced, and readable.

The mantel doesn't warm up the crust of the earth that much.

Hmmmmm..

I thought more trees CONSUME more CO2..Oh, well--I'm no scientist.

Thanks for your reply

My husband has an funny saying he picked up in the Army- "if ya can't dazzle 'em with your brilliance then blind 'em with b*lls&*t".

This is what they do- they can't debate with facts, so they will attack the messenger. Crichton IS a scientist- he is an MD- bona fide and credentialed.

I apologize- I jumped this one too fast and got it backwards. The speculation is that more CO2 would aid the growth of more forested land. Since the developed nations have moved beyond agricultural systems, much of what was farmland has again been overtaken by natural processes. The forests would grow back at any rate, but scientists have speculated that if there IS an increase of CO2 it would be taken up by plants. Since there are a significant number more of US, it seems like "good engineering" to me.

I'm not a scientist either but since we moved to a rural area, I think the air smells better...

I just calculated how many watts it would take to warm the earth to 15 deg C.
Over 1550 watts per square meter.
I still can not find a link ha.

""if ya can't dazzle 'em with your brilliance then blind 'em with b*lls&*t". "
Ok...that is really TOO funny...
When I was growing up..that saying was on a sign in the basement in my dad's shop...
HA HA!
Along with another good one (we are a very Irish family):

"May you be in heaven a half an hour before the devil knows you're dead".

You are so right about what the left does..
I work at a local area high school...some things still surprise me..and the only surprising thing is...that I am still surprised!

ACK!

I forgot Crighton was an MD...OF COURSE...
But I am sure THAT doesn't count ya know!

[How do you then explain the fluctuations of climate back through time]

Well duh - everybody knows that, in addition to the Weather-O-Tron, Karl Rove has a time machine.

They used this advanced technology, stolen from the aliens who crashed at Roswell, to go back and kill all the dinosaurs. That's how they created the oil industry.

It's all Bush's fault.
