I used to live in Long Beach. Its cold there due to the humidity and the lack of any natural barriers to keep out the Arctic Ocean's air. Here in Salida, Colorado, the high altitude, surrounding mountains and low humidity ensure you don't freeze your ass off even as snow keeps falling.
