Sen. John McCin defended Bush's Iraq plan on Friday as a diffuculbut necessary move, parting company with lawmakers questioning the wisdom of the military build up.
"I believe that together these moves will give the Iraqis and Americans the best chance of success," said John McCain, R-Ariz....
McCain also took a shot at Democrats who say the United States must bring some troops home within four to six months.
I believe these individauls have a responsibility to tell us what they believe are the consequences of such a move would be, including civil war, he said...

They either did not think that the war was winnable from the beginning and were too afraid (cowardly) to say so at that time for fear of political repurcussions, or they did not want us to win.
The Democrats have hid behind the Iraq Study Group and others, rather than having several elected key Democrats develop and put forward a comprehensive plan for the war.
Instead they have undermined the war effort, bashed Bush and other Republicans, and played various games.
One of those games they are playing now that is undermining the war is refusing to support a surge of troops to Iraq and simulataneously not calling for our troops to come home. This is a game called playing 'both ends against the middle,' and our troops are the pawns on the game board. That way they can sit back and bash Bush and continue not taking any chances with putting forward a comprehensive plan for winning the war in Iraq - as a failed plan put forward by them would be mud in their eyes. Thdy know this.
The Republicans should say to them:
If you don't think Bush's plan will work, then put forawrd your own comprehensive plan for winning the war. If you don't think we can win, then just tell it like it is and as a party call for our troops to come home. Mincing words and playing games has gotten old.
The Democrats have had enough time though to put forward a plan. Since they have had over a year and a half to do so, they should at least be held partly responsible in 2008 if the war effort in Iraq fails.
The Republicans paid in 2006. The Democrats should pay in 2008. They have failed to do their part to help win this war in Iraq.
But really, if the Democrats come forward with a plan now, it will only be to cover their behinds. That is the unvarnished truth and the voters need to be made aware of all of this now and through to Nov. 2008.
Yes, the voters need to be made aware of this and decide for themselves what to do in 2008.
I know this won't be a popular thought around here, but I'm going to share it anyway:
Although I would never vote for McCain, because his CFR is fundamental violation of Free Speech, and because of his hug-a-terrorist "anti-torture" sentimentality, but I have to respect his stance on the war.
On this subject, he's a good guy. I would never vote for him, but on this subject, he's a good guy. And I don't even care if it's a ploy. Right now we need all the good guys on the good-guy-side that we can get, even if some of them are just pretending to be good guys. And in fact, I think on this one subject, McCain is actually a good guy, and not pretending.
I don't see anything controversial about that at all. He has been rock solid on this crucial issue.
I think we all mostly agree Sam- He does have soem good points, but he really douses the good witrh the ugliness of his off the wall beliefs.

McCain certainly isn't my favorite Republican and I'm not going to vote for him in the primaries but I can say I respect his firm and strong support for the WOT, Iraq, and a pro-American foreign policy. At least if he is elected President, we won't have to worry about Islamic fascists getting off the hook.
John McCain's claim to hero status is he got shot down. What about the fighter pilots who AVOIDED getting shot down? Aren't they greater heroes than John McCan't, the RINO from AZ?
