Greta interviewed Arlin's parents last night. Did you see it? Such a sad, sad thing.
The mother said she told her son to stay nearby the house when riding his bike that evening b/c supper was nearly ready. He said ok, and for her to save him some polish sausage - his favorite. They had spoken out the window to each other, he was so close.
The next thing she knows the boy, age 11, had disappeared.
So for 15-16 yrs. she has hoped and prayed and waited for SOME word of him. She says in her heart she believes he's alive somewhere, but if she's wrong and he's dead, she needs to know.
He was 11 and was within about the same radius of miles from St. Louis as the other kidnappings.
yep, it broke my heart last night and I actually cried. I e-mailed Greta right in the middle of her show and she responded to me a minute or so later telling me how much she feels bad for Arlin's mother. Arlin's mother isn't the only child missing and never to be found, but to go through this I just can't imagine.
The only place my kids are allowed to play outside is in our backyard. I never let my kids go in the front yard without one of us for any amount of time.
We actually had an attempted kidnapping last week in my neighborhood. After that I won't let my boys ever walk home from school, ride bikes alone in the neighborhood, or anything where some creep could get a hold of them.
Devlin's mother is a PhD psychologist?
No, I must have been in a hurry. The momthat I know who let's her child out alone from the time the girl was old enough to ride a bicycle and never knows where her child is is a PHD psychologist and deals with troubled youth.

I would have no idea where I saw it, but in one of the press reports I've read since the weekend, I seem to recall that someone said Devlin's personality changed after he was diagnosed with Diabetes several years ago. IIRC, he'd had to have a toe amputated.

This is a very scary world we live in. What you described, about the limits you allow your kids.... parents HAVE to do this these days.
I feel the same way you do, but I also lock my side gate into the backyard and we are constantly checking on him. I have "First Alerts" on my doors so I know when they are opened. I have First Alerts on my kid's windows as well. Our doors are always locked and I keep an eye on our neighborhood as well.
Sheeshh, you'd think I was living in Fort Knox.
i have locks to our backyard as well and the keys are inside the house hiding! The kids don't go out and people don't go in unless we unlock the doors.
Sad world we live in, but that is what we have to do to protect our kids.
Circumstances: Charles' photo is shown age-progressed to 22 years. He was last seen at about 5 p.m. as he was riding his bike near home. He is considered at risk since he is missing under suspicious circumstances. He was last seen wearing a camouflage T-shirt, camouflage pants, gray socks and black tennis shoes. He was riding a white and yellow bike. He was last known to have a crew cut.

OK, now this is wierd...the above link shows that Patrick Devlin, his other brother, is connected to that same apartment on Holmes Avenue.

If he did kidnap this boy, I think there could be another kid involved too.
Using his pattern if he kidnapped Charles in 1991, I dont think he would have held him until 2003 when he kidnapped Shaun. If Shaun was no longer appealing to him sexually at 15 than another kid would have fit into the pattern around 1995.

Replied to you in the middle of her show? She may be all mixed up viz Thetanism, but that was a fairly classy act on her part.
I'm watching the press conference. They just said that they have increased his bail to 3 million with NO 10% crap. If he wants to make bail, he has to come up with 3 million in cash.
He has also been charged in the kidnapping of Shawn Hornbeck.
He is charged with armed kidnapping of a minor (SH), by Washington county prosecutor.
