According to FoxNews, pelosi now says Samoa is INCLUDED..
Her trickle-up theory apparently won't go over very well with the people there, as their representative had this to say (pay attention to para 2) regarding the devastation of the Samoan economy if this goes through:
"In a statement in response today, Faleomavaega (American Samoa delegate) said "despite recent claims made by the Washington Post which suggest that American Samoa is exempt from the federal minimum wage process, I wish to set the record straight." He says since 1956, the Wage and Hour Division of the US Department of Labor has conducted Special Industry Committees every two years in American Samoa to determine minimum wage increases.
"While these Industry Committees have been phased out in other US Territories due to their more diversified economies, American Samoa continues to be a single industry economy. In fact, more than 80% of our private sector economy is dependent either directly, or indirectly, on two U.S. tuna processors, Chicken of the Sea and StarKist. As has been repeatedly stated at our Special Industry Committees, a decrease in production or departure of one or both of the two canneries in American Samoa could devastate the local economy resulting in massive layoffs and insurmountable financial difficulties," the Congressman says.
"For this very reason, I do not support efforts to apply mainland minimums to American Samoa at this time. The truth is the global tuna industry is so competitive that it is no longer possible for the federal government to demand mainland minimum wage rates for American Samoa without causing the collapse of our economy and making us welfare wards of the federal government."
It probably wont fix their wagon, but it won't grease the wheels at least!

I know how consumers pay for them. I want to know how the companies that offer WIC products are paid. I saw someone using W.I.C. coupons a few weeks ago. She had to do separate transactions for each coupon. The checker had to verify the products, count them, and sign the coupon. It was not like sliding a credit card. And it took forever. I inevitably pick the line with the most complicated transactions ahead of me!!!!
Of course not, the 100 hours starts mext week.

Now to the Republicans: We have your back, God knows you don't deserve it, but we'll be there. Get a some guts, clean your house, and get back to the agenda that is For The People, and FIGHT BACK! If you don't, you are in the same boat as the Democrats. I vote Republican, and I do it every election day. Don't make me hold my nose the next election day. If the Republicans don't wake up there will be a third party in '08, and the Democrats (having been hijacked by the communist party) will have power and the Constitution will be just a piece of paper in a case in Washington D.C.. It won't mean a thing.
Here, WIC is doled out on tickets specifying product and amount to be used between certain dates, but 'foodstamps' are doled out ona credit card that has a generic deposit made once a month (rolling balance). What is available to buy thru 'foodstamps' is regulated far less than WIC.

methinks she's stepped in it bigtime as Fox ran an interview clip with her where she said the language would be revisited to include ALL American Territories..
within the first week, her rush to power is really pi*sing a bunch of people off..
