This was a press release issued by the individual below but the source paper has copyright issues. So am posting as a vanity:
United States Marine Corps Sgt. Craig M. Breiner, 30, of Howell plans to carry the U.S. flag from the Belmar boardwalk to the state capital in Trenton to rally support for American military personnel serving in war zones.
"We need to bring the morale of our troops up," said Breiner, a seven-year Marine veteran who spent seven months in Iraq in 2004 and 2005. . . .
Breiner's walk will commence Jan. 20, rain or shine, at the 16th Avenue boardwalk in Belmar and proceed to Route 34 and Route 33. He welcomes people interested in walking with him to show support for American military personnel. . . .
For more information, call Breiner at (908) 415-1640.
Think any of your wide acquaintance might be interested? If so, please ping!
I'm in South Jersey....where is Belmar?
Fyi..
I'm sure this story will be picked up by NBCBSABC and the like. /sarc
It's in the vast undefined area called "Central" Jersey. :-) It's in Monmouth county, along the shore, were Routes 35,34,33 converge. Here's a link for more specific driving directions:Belmawr directons
I think his walking route will swing near the Freehold Mall and the Freehold race track (where Route 33 and Route 9 intersect). There's a big Barnes and Nobles along there as a possible rallying/gathering spot.
Sure it will and be presented as a "last ditch,half-hearted gesture on the part of demented service people to tragically rally support from a turned off population.
Just another back stabbing PR lie perpetrated by the MSM.
That jarhead ought to cancel his little "walk"...it's unnescessary...he and they have the support of the American people already and don't need his meager promotional trek. His job is soldiering, not PR!
I hope he has his weapons, as walking through parts of Jersey are more dangerous than Baghdad. :)
He's also an American CITIZEN who has the privilege of doing whatever he thinks needs to be done to support the troops. We DO need to put our shoe leather to work because Americans are buying the lie from the media that no one supports the troops. Your response is almost as elitist as a member of the current Congress. If you think he shouldn't be putting his shoe leather where his heart is, are you going to do it in his place???
You're right about the danger, especially as this is in one of the bluer areas of the state. :-) However, we'll hope he'll leave his weapon at home because that's another whole issue here in the grand state of New "the government will control everything about your life" Jersey.
Hooray United States Marine Corps Sgt. Craig M. Breiner!
(I visited Belmar NJ 40 years ago this summer)

America's finest BUMP!
It figures that dolts will see this as some sort of slight at the well itended gesture that is meant to be. Even though it will certainly be used by the MSM to take another swipe at our President and our troops.
We don't need idiots to seek our citizens support with silly displays that will be used against us. We already support our President and our country.
You are'nt able to see this obvious point and that makes me wrong? Hello?
What a nasty, elitist choice of words. I especially don't appreciate your calling this fine young Marine an "idiot" and "silly". As an example of the positive effect such "displays" can have, I strongly urge you to review the history of the DC chapter's counter-protests, especially at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Their consistent actions against the left have brought great comfort to the wounded and their families as I have personally witnessed while participating in the WRAMC Friday FREEP.
If just one Soldier, Marine, Sailor, Airman, Coast Guardsman is encouraged by this man's actions, then that's terrific. The target audience aren't the deluded leftists who already hate America. I for one am proud of and encouraged by the folks like Kristinn, Raoul, tgsltakoma, and this Marine who are willing to stand up for what they believe in. I suggest you consider the "Thumper rule" in the future--if you can't say something nice (encouraging, helpful),don't say nothing at all.
I think the person who you want to ping is DoctorRaoul
Well a good Marine doesn't need weapons to defend himself - he is the weapon. :) But you do have big swamp Rats in Jersey that like to attack in packs.
I don't know how old you are, but if you're into going to clubs, there are some good ones to check out if you ever make it to Belmar.
