All he has to do is ship the captured IEDs to the Arab nationalists in the western Iranian provinces.

I say yes.

I say we have easy plausible deniability. How many bad news Baathists would love to get out of prison free and spend some time disrupting civil affairs in Iranian communities.

You could probably do the same thing with some Shiites for Syria.

I hope this is true.

If he did, then it's no different from the "war" we waged on the Soviet Union and her allies for decades.

Succeeding in Iraq also requires defending its territorial integrity and stabilizing the region in the face of extremist challenges. This begins with addressing Iran and Syria.

That should have been a no-brainer from the beginning. But, we wanted to be politically correct from the beginning and we didn't want to expand the war and we certainly didn't want to upset Syria or Iran or any other middle-east countries. Fighting a war cautiously only extends the war and brings on unintended consequences and some harsh lessons which Bush seems to be finally learning and facing.

Works for me. Insert sniper teams, and aim for the generals.

I hope so, now let's let the secret out in the form of an all out bombing raid or targeted nukes.

Did the President Declare "Secret War" Against Syria and Iran?

If by answering yes, does that mean the rats will now shriek hysterically and run into traffic? YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!

What a stupid question.

Back in September of 2001, President Bush declared war on any and all who harbor terrorists.

If that now includes Iran and Syria, well...they can't say they weren't warned.

IIRC Congress did not put a location restriction on his authorization to take out the terrorists.

The President may have started a new secret, informal war against Syria and Iran without the consent of Congress

The better question to ask is 'has Syria and Iran declared war against the United States by supplying insurgents and weapons to kill American soldiers in Iraq?'

The media is asking the wrong question. Per usual.

It's not that we've declared proxy war on Iran or Syrian. They've engaged US in a proxy war since 3/03, and I'm sure an argument could be made that they engaged us even sooner, but we didn't notice.

Not good enough. We need to declare double secret war on them.

As an avid Middle East watcher, I've been keeping my eye on something for awhile now. I'm waiting for a transition from Iraq to Iran...an excuse to attack Iran.

Yesterday I noticed that the president is shifting focus to Iran. Look for more signs. I believe that we will be poking at Iran to provoke them, but I don't see that happening for about six months or more. Ultimately it will look like we had no choice but to respond.

The president cannot declare war against Iran, and he has no public support to do so. However, if we escalate a situation to war, then the country has no choice.
