Rep. Ron Paul has filed papers in Texas to create a presidential exploratory committee that will allow him to raise money, the Associated Press reported late Thursday. The nine-term congressman from southeast Texas was the Libertarian nominee for president in 1988 and received more than 400,000 votes, the AP reported. This time he plans to run as a Republican.

He had better be able to back up his assertions. I think he's smoking something. If he has to invent lies to support his position, he's just another liar hoping to gain more power. I'll be waiting for someone to produce the evidence that what Paul says is correct.

ah, this is turning out to be an enlightening thread. I'd only seen his fiscal stances. Thanks all.

Unfortunately many of his die hard fans won't require him to back up his assertions. They will support him in anything...even surrender.

He's my congressman and I vote for him, but I think he's a fruitcake.

...The "electable" alternative to "the fruitcake" Paul?

He's 71 years old. I don't know when that photo at Post 13 was taken, but it wasn't anytime recently.

We've been kinda waiting for him to retire to the fruitcake farm where he can polish the buckles on his shoes and wax eloquent about how the Constitution doesn't authorize an Air Force.

I doubt Paul could win Texas.....

He's the one that believed in term limits when first elected as a republican. He stepped down after his self imposed 6-yr limit to run as the Lib Presidential candidate. After getting waxed he sat out one term and returned to the Republican fold to run in the primary for his old job...... term limits be damned.... The Republican Party is a convenience for him, nothing else.

Seems like they all suddenly make exceptions for themselves when it comes to keeping their term limits pledge.

Hopefully his "surrender" position will help him along next time around.

I'll be giving him a chance but unless someone presents evidence that this is not a lie, Paul won't be getting my support. We had a liar in the WH in Clinton and we don't need another one.

Why do I get the feeling you aren't totally joking.

But, he will make the debate interesting.

No, he'll split the conservative vote.

You have to admit, his running would make the debates interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a Republican candidate in a debate sitting under a white flag.

Read his #37...his "surrender the war on terror" speech in Congress. I also post his Christmas surrender speech.

Who would you choose for president, Ron Paul or McPain? We'll play a game, only those two are your choices-choose one.

Is McCain the best we can do for foreign policy and defense?

You prefer appeasers?

Time to break out the chalk for the high-water mark, because I doubt he'll get that high again.

Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that he is overwhelmingly stupid. I washed my hands of him after his assinine floor speeches condemning the United States for conducting a Christian war against Islam in Iraq. He's an idiot.
