My first job as nurse was on a Neurosurgery floor. We had a teenage boy on the floor that was in a coma. We finally talked mom and dad into going to the lake over the weekend, because they really needed a break. I was taking care of their son and he started to wake up and I remember mom screaming over the phone when I told her the news.
By end of the week this kid was laughing at the dirty jokes his uncle was telling him. He did have a long way to go but you can't ever give up.

Amanda Arthur has a new last name, Edwards. She married Michael Edwards, and they have a baby girl, Audrey. Amanda says she has no memories of the car crash that left her in a coma nearly 10 years ago.
