Grammatical errors are one thing and I think I missed most of those. Typos are something else. If it mattered at all, I got 800s on the verbal sections of both the SATs and the GREs, as well as maxing out the written portion of the GRE. I received As in every English class I took in college, in my creative writing course, and on every research paper I wrote. In grad school I counted on my writing to keep my grades high, as that gave me an advantage over my fellow computer science students who could not write.

I had professors speak to me after class complimenting me on the best paper in the class, and upon learning I was homeschooled, saying things like "Oh, you're the first one I've met and you're not like the stereotype at all."

So go on and tell yourself that my kids will suffer because they won't be in government school!

Oh, but they will, Jen! They won't get to enjoy the benefits of being hounded by bullies, ridiculed by cliques, pressured into sex, exposed to drugs, tempted to binge drink, or otherwise subjected to incredible pressure to conform to a mediocre-at-best status quo.

And just think of all the colorful language they won't have the opportunity to learn. By way of compensation, you can teach them to curse in Latin. =]
