I'll tell you two stories. First mine.
I was in the Navy, stationed on the USS JFK in Norfolk. I went home to NC for a 4-day Thanksgiving weekend, and went to visit a friend who I have known since 1st grade. At one time I had dated his sister. Well, he introduced me to this lovely little woman, who was so shy she hardly said a word all night. We went out Friday and Saturday night, and I found myself going home every weekend that we were in port and I didn't have duty. I even paid someone $75.00 to take my New Years weekend duty so I could go home. I proposed on Valentine's eve, and we married in March. That was almost 17 years ago.
The other story is my parents:
My Dad, from eastern NC, joined the Army in the spring of 1941 to, as he told me "keep from getting drafted". While on maneuvers in TN in 1942, he was detailed to drive a truck in the convoy. Being that he was in the regimental medical detachment, he was at the rear of the convoy, and would slow way down, get behind and then floor it to catch up. The transportation officer caught him, and banished him to the back of the truck. Shortly after this, while passing through the small town of Alexandria, TN on a Saturday afternoon, he threw his name and address out of the truck to a girl he saw on the town square. They started writing, and he started visiting while he was still stationed in TN. They continued to write throughout the war, through the fighting in western Europe, and when he was discharged in September 1945, he went to get her. They married in October 1945, and Dad just passed away one month shy of their 61st anniversary. Mom passed right before last Christmas.

I met my husband when I moved to Boston. I was coming out of a very hard time and needed to find a place to live. I visited an apartment with a room to rent, and one of the people living there asked me if I wanted to go out to a dance that evening with a friend of his. I said "Yes."
When my date picked me up, we kissed on first sight, and I spent the night with him. We have never been apart since. He is the best thing that everh happened to me.

WHEW! What a DAY!
A great big THANK YOU to the troops for protecting us!
How did I meet my Love....
OK, I know Im a bit later jumping in today, but here goes.
I met Mrs. GE on a blind date. I had a night class with a friend of hers Betty.
The entire semester Betty kept trying to get Mrs. GE and me to go out with her and her husband. We could never get our schedules together. Finally she asked me to just call her. At the time neither of us was interested in a relationship at all. I called her and said something like this: Betty wants us to go out. Do you want to just so she will shut up? We talked about it for a bit and finally we decided to just go out and eat somewhere safe. If I wanted to take her home after that I would, or if she wanted to go home after that I would take her home. No pressure, no risk, no hard feelings either way. I suggested that she take her car and just meet me there, but she said no to that. We were rally just doing this to get her off our backs.
Well we decided to go out this once. I made reservations at one of the finest places I could find in Gulfport, MS for that night. Well, when the night came, it was the tail end of a tropical storm, but we decided to go through with it anyway,
I met her at a crossroad out on the country (they lived in the boondocks), and followed her to her home. I met her, her Dad and her Mom all at the same time. (They were a bit concerned because I was 33 and she was 22). We sat and talked for a bit and left. It was storming so bad that we couldn't get into Gulfport, so we had to head north to Hattiesburg about 40 miles away.
We had a great time. We ate at a local steak house and just talked and talked, then went by a couple house whe were friends of mine. I got her back home around two or so in the morning. Both her Mom and Dad were up so I went in and we all chatted until
must have been 6 or so in the morning when I finally went home.
That was 1988 we married in 1990 and the rest
.as they say, is history.

I was an EMT driving an ambulance in Hawthorne CA. My partner and I stopped at Holly's Coffee Shop (The same one they used in Pulp Fiction) for a Code 7. When the Hostess came up to seat us, I was smitten.
That was 30 years ago!

Wow, I love these stories! :) Maybe I should add mine...
It was my freshman year of college and I had never once been on a date with a guy or kissed a guy. I was watching The Princess Bride in my room with a guy friend when he came in with one of my suite-mates. I didn't know they weren't dating, so I proceeded to ignore them and had fun quoting the lines as they were being said. Little did I know they were just friends and he was watching me the whole time.
After that, we met up at a party when there was a hurricane and he was instantly mine and I was instantly his. We were married 4 1/2 years later and are coming up on our 3rd wedding anniversary. My dream man, my first kiss, my first love, I can't wait to see him soon!

Feb 28 1981.
It was a cold rainy Saturday Night in New York.
I went to work playing/singing in a piano bar. About 1AM in he comes with a buddy of his, each drunker than ten thousand dollars.
Bells. Just like they say
"Do you know 'You're Getting to Be a Habit With Me?'" he slurs.
'I hope so.' I punned.
Twenty-five years and counting. Can't break it.

I was a volunteer tutor at a center for inner city boys. A week before Christmas they had a party for the tutors to thank them. I wasn't that interested until I found out that it was open bar.
Soon after I arrived at the party, some women who were tutoring at the center for inner city girls came in. There were three very attractive women looking at a poster with photos of the place where they were volunteers. I figured that I'd go up them, ask a really dumb question, and see if any of them were nice enough to answer my question. I did that, and she stepped forward and very politely answer my stupid question. We kept talking for another hour and a half.
We've been married now for a little over 14 years.

We were volunteering at a Habitat for Humanity project through our company - she had gone with a girlfriend & I just went because it was not far from my apartment. We both got assigned to shoveling gravel for the new driveway. We had a fun day chatting & working. I accidentally left my sweater behind at the end of the day (honest! it was accidental). She called me up to say she had it, and we met at the local pizza shop for me to pick it up. We kept exchanging e-mails, meeting for lunch, etc., and the rest is history.
She always says if I could admire her while shoveling gravel, it must be love.
Oh, and we still have the sweater enshrined in the closet.
