If you are good for each other, that is what counts! A good man/woman is a good person despite the externals that we put much too much emphasis on (and I am no exception......I discount some men too quickly at times)

Well, I believe that nearly all women start out wanting a tall guy... but I've had several short guys for just-friends (in the range of 5'6" to 5'7"), and without exception they tell me that most of the petite women turn them down. Now, if a woman is only 5'1", that short guy is still gonna tower over her by 5 or 6 inches, right? But a lot of the petite women won't date a guy under 6'; instead they prefer to end up with a guy who is three times their size.

The strangest case like that I ever met was an ex-coworker who was about 5'8". She INSISTED that she would not date a man shorter than 6'6". And why?? Because the man absolutely had to be tall enough that she could wear 4" heels and he would still tower over her by at least 6".

This was back when I was about 25 (now 53)... I told her that I'd still be a virgin if I had requirements like that. LOL.

For me, the difference in height still feels weird sometimes. He's built stocky, which helps.

Hey there... I wish you luck. I got a few dates when I was in a Toastmasters group (learning public speaking skills). It was a special-interest Toastmasters group in that it was mostly libertarians, but they have many, many others out there. It's a good place to meet people because you can take it slow and observe, then decide whom you want to get to know better.

If you're active in some conservative political interest group, that might be another way to meet like-minded people.

But there must be other organized activities which would serve you well too. I'm not religious, but I know that many people meet through church social activities, bible study groups, etc.

There are also tall clubs everywhere, if you particularly like tall ladies. When I was a member, there didn't seem to be as many people pairing off as I had hoped to see, but they have a lot of great social activities. If you're interested, you could Google Tall Clubs. They also have conventions in different parts of the country, much like science fiction conventions, in that people travel from all over to attend.

And, of course, there is always Internet dating. I wasn't crazy about it (I tend to do better in other venues), but it works for some people.

Again, good luck in finding the love of your life.

sometimes the "size" requirements turn into a good match but oh how many men pass up good gals because they don't like like Christie Brinkly & gals shun men who aren't tall, lean & rich.

Yes, that's all true. Let's see... I've met men who wouldn't date me because I'm "too tall," not curvy enough, not big enough in the boobs, I wear glasses, etc., blah, blah, blah. When I was in high school, some folks considered me to be too thin. Nowadays I'm too fat. Also had a guy in high school STOP flirting when I made the honor roll one semester!

If you look hard enough, there's always something for which you can reject a person. No one's perfect, but it's easy to compare that person against some mythical laundry list and turn them down.

I have never required a man to make more money than I do... but I have paid most of the bills for the last 4+ years in this relationship (he finally recently got a job after completing a training course), and I have been in a couple of other relationships where I ended up paying way more than 50% of the bills.

And yes, there are times when I wonder what it would have been like to have married someone who was prosperous and could help me out, instead of the other way around. LOL.

But you know what? Being a wife and mother IS a job. And just like a guy considers the compensation for his job, a woman considers the compensation for her job. You cannot live on love alone, because the landlord, utility companies, etc. insist on being paid with money.

Thanks for the kind wishes. I am familiar with toastmasters, but as I have worked in sales-related fields the last 15 years {the past 10 as a mortgage broker, and home renovations specialty contractor} I have no problems with or qualms about public speaking or breaking the ice

Heck I even enjoy hanging out with friends and doing some karaoke singing on a regular basis {no, I really don't actively look in bars for a mate}!

But I live in Portland Oregon - an epicenter of Left Coast Liberalism, as well as a bastion of lesbianism.

After "disqualifying" for traits of:

untreated psychosis, divorcees with 2 kids or more, substance abuse, multiple garish piercings and/or tattoos, political Uber-liberalism/Radical leftism, lack of interest in having children, or total lack of physical fitness/personal hygiene {vastly overweight - 20%+ and 'dumpster chic' antifashion are standard here...}

There are precious few choices available...

I am a precinct committeeman, active in my county GOP, but there are literally no eligible SWFs {or even SHF/SBFs} in the party between 25 and 35...not for the past 6 years anyway...

My mother at 5'11 used to be part of the Portland "Skyliners" tall club, but anymore, the gals in the club are - well, somewhere between my age and my mother's age...

Impractical for having children together, to say the least!

I have heard "good things come to those who wait" so I will wait - and do a bit of peering about now and again, as well.

Sooner or later, some decent, suitable girl will find out that I am not half bad, and decide to show some appreciation.

That will be the happy beginning, rather than the happy ending, I believe!

My thanks for your encouragement

Warm FReegards
