I was at summer camp in the year of 1963 and 1962. I knew her as one of the best horseback riders of all the camp (next to me of course). I had a crush on her from the beginning. She knew me only as the big brother of my younger half whom she despised. We had many encounters (nothing romantic) as the "bad" smokers of the camp. We would see each other out in the woods with other campers and a horse or two while we were all sneaking cigarettes. LOL.
I left camp and had a life. I married, had two children, got divorced and BINGO! almost twenty years later, I went to work in a building and she was on the floor below me. I saw her often on the elevator.
She was about to get married. It was the marriage of the century where everybody from here to Europe was to come. Senators, congressmen: everybody. She didn't want to marry him.
She was advised by her mother to (just get married) and get divorced later. She did. We are now happily married for over 20 years and have two fantastic children and a few fantastic grandchildren from my previous marriage.
AIN'T LIFE GRAND?!

Don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but "At Last" is one of my favorites too. No one will ever sing it like Etta James! This wav. doesn't do her justice.
Mr. Bear and I have been together for 38 years. It was so long ago, I'm not sure now exactly how we met. ;-)

You're right. Every day all I can think is that I'll see my beloved again some day. But I do know the other kind: a former girlfriend who waited until I was in Vietnam to cut me off with never a letter.

Oh, fatima, what a wonderful thread idea!
Let's see...I worked at W.T. Grant's, and that's where I met Nana. I fell in love at once, it took awhile before she felt the same way. It could have something to do with me streaking her glass counters after she cleaned them - I was sooooo obnoxious!
She agreed to our first date on Christmas night, 1972. She planned to kill two birds with one stone. She was going to skip out on dinner with an Aunt she didn't like, and she was going to tell me to get lost.
After watching a movie, then walking in the park - and a corny line about body heat (not what you're thinking!) - she found herself planning our wedding! That came 3 years later.

I was stationed at an AF GSU on an Army base. I was asked to be the sound technician for a theater group.
The director was a complete jerk. I almost bailed on closing night because he wanted to run the sound board (and he screwed it up royaly). I showed up because he wanted me to video tape the show for him.
The stage manager was a friend of the future Mrs Bear and gave her a ticket. She almost didn't show because she had just worked and was tired.
We are both glad we showed up!
