Her boss at a company party told me I should check out one of his new hires - so I did. We dated for over 5 years before we married - 21 years and counting.

I'm very sorry for your loss. However it happens, it's painful.

Some friends of ours, that got married around the time we did, had an interesting meeting.
They were both invited to a "setup" party by mutual friends. You know how the matchmaking thing goes. Well they had some small talk and she told him her impression was that the deepest thing he read was "TV Guide", to which he replied that his impression was that the deepest thing she read was "Harlequin Romance". That did it. They're still married, too.
One other story. I'm Baptist and my wife is Catholic. It seemed like every single Catholic woman I ever met had 2 cats. One night I got a call from my younger brother. He said, "I'm getting married and she's Catholic." I asked, "Does she have 2 cats?", and he says, "How did you know????" In the previous paragraph she was Catholic with 2 cats. So was my wife. That's my theory - every single Catholic woman has 2 cats.

Painful is getting run down by a car. There has yet to be a word invented to describe what it means to lose ones soulmate.

You'll have to post a link to this thread on the Valentine's Day Canteen. FWIW, I think that's a great idea. Maybe even sprinkle in some of the stories that have been posted here...
