For U.S. diplomats, that word is genocide, when referring to the murders of 1.5 million Armenians nearly every man, woman and child who were executed, starved or deported from the countryside in forced death marches through the Syrian desert by the Ottoman Turks. ...

ROP indeed.
Bump for later and deeper read.
The muslims must own up to their horrific genocide of Christians.
Thank you. I appreciate that.
And to think these barbarians are our "allies."

Clinton tiptoed around everything.
His administration set back this country and the world 20 years.
Be careful or he will return, via Hillary to set us back another 20.
No! The Ottoman Turks were our enemy in World War I. One hundred years ago when this all happend. Our allies, the Republican Turks, under Ataturk, threw out the Ottoman Turks and established the modern Turkish Republic.
With the rise of communism, our "enemy" became our "ally" and it remains the case today, even though the WOT is a very differnt long-term struggle than containing communism was. Being a Muslim nation, Turkey - like Saudi Arabia - is not a completely trustworthy ally against Islamic extremism and terror. Plus the US has to make all sorts of concessions to them - among which is genocide denial - to get them to give us their grudging co-operation. The Baltic states would love to host US bases - and as Christian, European nations we don't have to watch our backs all the time. We know they will be with us when we need them the most.
The current Turkish government refuses to acknowledge the historical reality of the genocide.
