I remember being told (years ago) that places like Mexico had high rates of stomach cancer due to their intake of spicy food.
I have no idea if that is true. Personally, I doubt it. And for the record, I adore spicy food and I am willing to accept the consequences (if any).

At least as far as Korea is concerned, I believe it's the mixture of large amounts of spicy foods with large amounts of soju (Korea's equivalent to vodka) that causes the stomach cancers.
