WASHINGTON (AP) --
In a concession to the Senate's new Democratic majority, four of President Bush's appeals court appointees have asked to have their nominations withdrawn, Republican officials said Tuesday.
These officials said that William Haynes, William Myers and Terrence Boyle had all decided to abandon their quest for confirmation. Another nominee, Mike Wallace, let it be known last month that he, too, had asked Bush to withdraw his nomination.

Anyone who voted for a Democrat because they thought it would reduce pork eating is an absolute moron with zero knowledge of history.
A few did.
However, plenty of others said vote for the House GOP, vote for the Senate GOP (except for perhaps Chafee).
And the GOP undercut them at every turn with their antics.
And that was far more damaging to the GOP re-election chances than any rogue poster on FR.
And it will continue to damage the election chances of the GOP as long as you and other GOP boosters look outward instead of inwards for the reasons the GOP went splat in 2006.
And what did the GOP do in response to their losses? Why, nominate Trent "Earmark" Lott for Senate Minority Whip. Shows just how serious they are about change in the Senate.
By this point, no conservative should be let down by the continuous string of snake oil salesmen in the GOP. We should expect it now, and be surprised when it doesn't happen.
You have it pegged perfectly...Some pf hese Freepers
are not able to see through the smokescreens That are
out therE by the MSM. As for these Judges, maybe they
would react better, if the Bully pulpit was used on a
consISTENT basis....for all the advisors, hiding under
their desks, get to President Bush and sell this to him,
since he seems to backpeddle sometimes> EVERY NOMINEE
SHOULD BE GIVEN THE FULL ENDORSEMENT, BY PRESIDENT BUSH,
ON THE DAY BEFORE A CONFIRMATION HEARING, AND COMMENT EACH
EVENING AFTER THE HEARINGS, TO GIVE THE VIEW OF THE
PRESIDENT. iF HE CAN'T BACK THESE PEOPLE...WHO THE HELL
IS GOING TO FIGHT THESE DEMOCRATIC OBSTRUCTIONISTS??? JK
Agreed. The GOP is to blame for why they lost. But imo, you're gonna see corruption and scandals in both (republican or democrat) parties to some degree. It just so happened the Rats focused primarily on the GOP scandals and corruption (nevermind all of theirs) and unfortunately, the sheeple of the Democrats, followed all the trails they were led on.
IMHO, considering what the Rats are going to do to this country, I still would take the GOP over them. High spending or not.
Again, people are forgetting reality of just 2 mos ago.
There Was Nothing Ideological In The 2006 Election.
Repeat:
There Was Nothing Ideological In The 2006 Election.
The exit polls asked the voters what determined their vote and the most commonly cited issue was not abortion, not taxes, not immigration and It Was Not Iraq.
It was corruption scandals.
So stop this fighting over moving rightward or leftward as the cause of the election results because that is irrelevant.
To win you must run squeaky clean candidates AND you must have explicit indictments of Democrat Congress people.
Any pubbie who wallowed in pork undermined core GOP values and undercut the re-election chances of the party. If both parties are gonna bloat spending, it removes fiscal restraint from the plus column of the GOP. You strike enough plusses from your side of the ledger, and it makes it pretty hard to win.
When are you going to stop that GOP bashing?
Are you EVER going to look at what is good for this country, not just yourself?
It is what it is; you need to learn to deal with it instead of tilting at windmills.
Unless you just like to "tilt."
Did you even READ what Ronald Reagan said about comprimise? What part of that don't you get?
Agreed.
Exactly.
If they are so sure it was because FreeRepublic was the case of the GOP's downfall, let them start naming names. According to them, FReepers were the sole reason.
All they do is bitch and moan about the voters, they refuse to affix the blame where it belongs, at the feet of the rinos and spineless, gutless republican politicians who threw it away bending to the likes of the dims.
Once that shamenesty is passed, they can say goodbye for decades to come the hope of republicans having any power whatsoever. Who will the bots blame for that, the voters or the politicians who sold them down the river? My guess is they'll blame the voters again, and this time they'll be right. The dims are replacing all the voters they aborted. Replenishing their ranks.
What we're going to get is full-fledged socialism, continuation of Hispanification of our culture (one of the consequences of unlimited immigration), a pro-abortion judiciary, and surrender to Islamic radicalism. The experiment has run its course.
I sure saw all of those posts, Peach, and it was infuriating. If I had the time, I'd go back and find those posts from so-called FRiends who were advocating not voting or voting in a Dem just to teach the Republicans a lesson. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
What did you have in mind? Turning the country over to the liberals? You must be thrilled.
Hard to get too upset, all of these were held up during the republican senate rule as well.
That was a good one, just thinking about that pisses me off again.
Jim Robinson wrote the foreward for a book called Hillary's Secret War. The freeper who wrote the book detailed how sites like FR and Lucianne were inundated by newbies coming here from places like the Clinton WH and The Washington Post during the 1990's.
They pretended to be conservatives and stirred dissent among freepers. I think we're seeing a lot of that now because we can't possibly have this many stupid freepers who are entirely too busy tearing down Republican candidates and the party in general.
See what I mean? Dream on. I'm sure you'll have lots of conservative judges with Hilary. I'm sorry but this defines stupid.
