Yes, it looks like I'm stuck for now with the slow connection. This one is slightly better that the borrowed one.
It is through my cell provider who told me it was comparable to cable.
Well, the fastest connection I've been sucessful in obtaining is about 60Kbps - and then only at nearly full signal strength.
Most of the time at work here I get connected at about 20Kbps or so. I'm not sure where this guy gets his comparison to a cable connection - this isn't even comparable to dial up!
The air card I had borrowed from a friend only connected at about 2kbps - so this is usable, but just barely.
I've got one more thing to try, but I'll have to wait until I get back from my next project startup.
