You renounced being a Republican in 2005; therefore, you have no basis for calling anyone else a RINO. So, you want people like me to leave the GOP? Typical RINO recipe for electoral success there...LOL...
Feel free to petition Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid for your wishes and leave the grownups alone.
That would be about as effective as expecting a reasonable conversation with you.

Assuming those above have NO conservative principles, you would vote for their Democrat opposition? No. I don't support liberals.

Those that stayed home or voted Democrat will have amply opportunities to re-explain why staying home or voting Democrat has made America a stronger and more prosperous nation Png.
To: EternalVigilance
Like I said, talk to Pelosi and Reid, 'cuz the face and the hand aren't listening. You talked big, you failed big, and now we Republicans aren't going to listen to you anymore.

"IMO, any FReeper who is pushing this "blame conservatives" meme is deeply suspect. What they betray is a deep dislike for conservatism. Personally, I'm sick of it."
Many "Republicans" do not trust, nor really like, conservatives.
To: jmaroneps37; OldFriend
Barke scratched the surface of what you wrote and I already disagree. You claim single issue hardliners are to blame, well I counter, you add up all the issues you listed and it is not difficult to decide the party in power until the end of last week DID NOT wield power in a conservative manner. I maintain the Republican Party must get the word out, basic plain true about what they stand for, what the Democrats stand for, and whether conservatives fit into the Republican platform. Finally the Republican Party desperately needs a Lee Atwater type who will put the unabashed truth out media bias be damned.
I neither stayed home nor voted Democrat though the choices in El Paso, TX are pretty limited, but to answer you question, or repose that question how did the Republican majority (and administration for that matter) since the 2004 elections make America a stronger more prosperous nation?
To: taxed2death
Only time will tell if they (we) actually learned anything. What they learned is that people in this country are more left leaning than they thought. So we will end up with an even further left leaning Republican party. (What else are they to 'learn' when the Democrats win?)

I don't need to be pandered to, inspired, or begged to vote for my country, my troops, and our allies.
Sorry if you couldn't get yourself to the polls without hand holding.

...you failed big
Wrong. We stayed steadfast for conservative principle and won every statewide and federal election in my state. After trouncing the RINOs in the primaries, that is.
...and now we Republicans aren't going to listen to you anymore.
As if your kind of "Republican" listens to anyone...

I voted the straight Republican ticket, and made several contributions to the national party and specific candidates in the last election cycle.
My vote and contributions were based on the "lesser of two evils" principle. Like it or not, the GOP has not appealed to economic conservatives nor to those who want more vigorous action to protect our borders and defeat radical Islam. Factors in American conservatism include limited government and protection of national sovereignty. The rapid expansion of Federal spending in the last six years, application of the Democrat "limited war" approach that failed in Korea and Vietnam to Iraq, and minimal effort to control the influx of illegal aliens clearly are not conservative. On a national basis, the Republican Party has been successful when it has advocated conservatism. It fails when RINOs and country clubbers push for moderation.
To: EternalVigilance
No. I don't support liberals. Then my point is simply this: Sometimes (most of the time) there will not be a pureblood conservative candidate, so we must make the best decision based on the choices available to us. If the only choices are 1 kick in the head versus 3 kicks in the head, you better believe I want a say in the matter. Neither is desirable, but one is better than the other.

One of the first key procedural votes in the Democrat-controlled House last week established legislative rules that Republicans say will make it easier to raise taxes by a simple majority vote. But Republican leaders and conservative tax-cut advocates said it opened up a huge loophole in a Republican-imposed rule drawn from the Republicans' 1994 Contract with America, which requires a supermajority, or three-fifths vote, to raise taxes.
These people have nothing to complain about. The Republican leadership in Congress (and the current administration in the White House) did something even worse than this -- by incorporating sunset provisions in its own tax cuts that enable Congress to raise taxes WITHOUT EVEN CASTING A VOTE AT ALL.

Sorry if you couldn't get yourself to the polls without hand holding. I worked twenty hour days throughout the election cycle to elect Republicans. You and those around here who spend more time attacking conservatives than in attacking Democrats are living in fantasy land.

Get to the true root causes. It was the failure of GOP politicians to vote conservatively while in office that led to the debacle of Nov '06. I won't vote for Dem-lite, period. Don't like it? Too bad. My vote is not yours to bully or take for granted.
