Obama's candid book could prove costly

"We were always playing on the white man's court... by the white man's rules," he writes. "If the principal, or the coach, or a teacher... wanted to spit in your face, he could, because he had the power and you didn't.... The only thing you could choose was withdrawal into a smaller and smaller coil of rage.
"And the final irony: Should you refuse this defeat and lash out at your captors... they would have a name for that too. Paranoid. Militant."
Obama has not expressed any regrets for his candor. In a preface to the new edition, he says he would tell the same story now "even if certain passages have proven to be inconvenient politically."
In the book, Obama acknowledges he used cocaine as a high school student but rejected heroin. "Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though," he says.
In an interview two years ago, Obama said he admitted using drugs because he thought it was important for "young people who are already in circumstances that are far more difficult than mine to know that you can make mistakes and still recover.

I agree, past drug use should not disqualify a candidate and we should judge the man we see today. Remember all the hateful accusations from the left that still continue today, calling President Bush a drunk and alleged coke head? There was never any substance to the coke allegations but it didn't stop the loonies from insulting him. The left wants to dig up dirt instead of accepting who a person is today. We can show we are better than that.

Especially since it deflects from the true arguments about who he(Obama) is today. This is a man who has voted consistently for the monstrous act of partial birth abortions. I'd like that to be the focus rather than how he has redeemed himself and made a successful career. That does us who oppose what he stands for no good at all.

Obama writes extensively about his struggle to come to terms with being a black man whose African father returned to Kenya when he was 2, leaving him to be raised by his white Kansas-born mother and grandparents in Hawaii.Doesn't this make his black father, to whom he owes his entire political identity, little more than a sperm donor?

Such horse****. Obama grew up in suburban comfort, raised in a white world by his white mother, and he's known about as much racial discrimination as I have.

So, as the President, what could he do to further Partial Birth Abortions? Hmm? Like Bush was pro-life...but I see abortions are still legal.

This guy's a black Bill Clinton. Rotten on the inside, well spoken on the outside.Pretty much the opposite of President Bush. Bush is a principled good hearted man but isn't a great communicator or charmer. Obama and Slick Willie were just that, all style with a foul core.

I keep hearing all the reasons why I shouldn't think he's ineligible to run for President--he's a minority, it's hypocritical of GWB fans to be against Obama for his coke use, etc.--but haven't heard a single reason to vote FOR him.

He is not like one of me , never tried the stuff, or the smoke stuff. That makes TWO of us. We are definitely in a select group. However in the interest of full disclosure I did amphetamines on two occasions when I was in Nam.

The only reason I can think of to vote FOR him: if he or Hillary were the only choices. Otherwise, he is a 99% liberal Democratic party man.

Such horse****. Obama grew up in suburban comfort, raised in a white world by his white mother, and he's known about as much racial discrimination as I have. Not only that, but the b.s. about the coaches spitting in his face and his "white man's world" is as ridiculous as it gets. The man went to an exclusive private school (Punahou), annual tuition now almost $15,000. About the ONLY people discriminated against there are white.
