With ballistics comparable to the 308 Win., this brand new cartridge is the highest performance round ever made for a traditional lever action rifle!
Last year, in partnership with Hornady, Marlin introduced the XLR Series of lever-action rifles, built to take full advantage of the improvements gained with Hornady’s LEVEREVOLUTIONTM spire-pointed flex tip ammunition.
Teaming up once more with Hornady, Marlin announces the debut of two new rifles chambered for the new Hornady 308 Marlin Express, a hot .30 caliber rimmed cartridge designed for maximum velocity, flat trajectory and smashing downrange energy.
The two models chambered for this round are: the blued 308MX with a 22” barrel and walnut stock, and the stainless steel 308MXLR with a 24” barrel and laminated stock.
Both will be available in Spring of 2007!
NEW Model 308MXLR
Available Spring 2007, this new model will be chambered for Hornady’s new ground-breaking 308 Marlin Express. It features a 24" stainless steel barrel, full pistol grip, and black-grey two-tone laminated stock characteristic of all XLR models. Also features the Marlin signature solid-top receiver with side-ejection, adjustable folding semi-buckhorn rear sight, ramp front sight. It is tapped for scope mount.

That's what I want.
I have no experience with the .35 Rem. but what I've read says it's superior to the 30-30.
With the LeverEvolution ammo it can reach out there.
If Marlin will bring out a similar new cartridge in .35 cal I'd jump all over it.
Got a Model 88 in 308. Lever action, box magazine.
Want to change thpe of round? Swap out the magazine.
Shoots 6mm/65 gr with sabots.
Marlin see a market for this?
Perhaps when you hit the milestone of 50, maybe I'll consider it for a well deserved appreciation for your longevity. ; )

They just reinvented the wheel. Nothing new here except the ammo will cost more. There are many .308 bolt guns that will do the job and as a rule a bolt gun is more accurate.
But it does look nice.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I'll pay the shipping charges....
Mine is a Marlin lever gun and it can be a handful with full loads but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I shoot mostly .308, 6mmBRX and .45 for pistol.
The 45-70 will handle anything I meet.
I really like the TC pistols, I have shot a friend of mines and they are top quality.
