Which is why any Islamofascist causing trouble in Alaska will be able to get off one or two shots before being dealt with directly.
Nice, but I still prefer a pump action for the follow up shot myself. Having to find the ammo at a local gun store for a bastard caliber can be a pain sometimes, having a .340 Weatherby Magnum taught me that.
Nice!
> With ballistics comparable to the 308 Win ...
Why not just chamber it for .308 Win?
With the new elastomer tips, tubular magazines no
longer place serious constraints on the ammo.
Ah. Because if it shoots std .308, some fool will
load it with FMJ .308 and blow the mag, the forestock,
their arm, their ears, etc.
I hope it does better than the .307 Winchester did.
Sweet.
I used to shoot a Marlin .444
My current rifle is a pre 64 Winchester Model 70, 300 Win Mag.
Any idea on the price?

I haven't seen it yet. The current edition of Guns & Ammo magazine has a write-up about the rifle. Also, the MarlinOwners board has some discussion about the new rifle:

This is the Marlin 21st century version of what winchester did to the model 94 in the 1980s. At that time they took the comparatively powerfull 308 and 358 winchester rounds, put a rim on them called the rounds 307 and 356 Win. and beefed up the action to handle them and called the lever gun the Big Bore 94 and then also chambered it for a high pressure version of the antique 38-55 and called that one the .375win. Marlin chambered some of these too for the 336 for a while....but they fell by the wayside for some reason.
Good. A hard hitting lever action.
Winchester Model 71. When this one talks, grizzly bears listen.
It does also bruise ones shoulder . . .
defeats the purpose of the 308 - its long and heavy
Sounds like Victor Borge's discussion of his uncle inventing a cure for which there was no disease. Most people buy a bolt rifle to shoot 308 ammo and a Marlin to shoot 45/70.
bang!
I have a 20 year old Marlin lever action rifle which fires a .357 round (or a .38 if you are trying to save money). It is without a doubt the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. It's a blast to shoot and whenever I got out kerplunking I envariably end up spending more time with this firearm than any other.
Still trying to find a .22 target rifle for the boys in Remington 540 style. It's been a tough go. However, I'm determined. Freepmail in the Central Texas area?
