"When Ford downsized the Taurus"

I didn't know they ever downsized the Taurus. Really?

It seems to me that whenever something is working well, the powers that be start screwing it up. Ford with their popular Taurus, and Chevy with their Cavalier. Both cars were reliable, sporty, economical, and PROFITABLE!

Today, both Chevy and Ford (and to a smaller extent Daimler-Chrysler) are struggling to survive, while Toyota and Honda are grabbing market share.

Whoever lived and drove a car in the '70s has seen this happen before, when GM made 5 different cars, and just put a different name on the grill....

Ford never downsized Taurus. But, after minimal changes over 20 years, no one other than rental fleets would consider buying it.
