Dumb Asses, Rinos and their pals the donkeys
The Collins Report ^

Posted on 01/07/2007 4:54:28 AM PST by Princip. Conservative

Since the day after Election Day we have heard pompous platitudes from cut and run conservatives bleating about how they are the true conservatives in the GOP’s big tent. They have talked about how the GOP’s rinos had disappointed them and they needed to clean house and “teach rino Republicans a lesson” Some have now proudly wrapped themselves around the title of “dumb asses” as a rallying point for those who were “way too smart and way to conservative” to turn out or vote for Republicans.

This argument, if left un-examined, sounds like it makes sense. Nevertheless, like the classic syllogism it is, it really can’t withstand the light of day. These self appointed saviors of America’s conservative movement are engaging in the kind of re writing of history that would make Bill Clinton proud. The Dumb Ass crowd now wants to have things both ways. They want us to laud them for their “courage” in either not voting or actually voting Democrat, AND they want us to attach no blame to them for delivering a liberal dominated congress led by people who have no regard for the safety of America. The D.As want us to believe that they were way to smart to use primaries to thin our rino heard, bleating about the Bush Whitehouse interfering with primaries around the country. The truth is that when they failed to win in the primaries they did work in, they sucked their thumbs and stayed home at best or voted Democrat at worst.

An interesting look at how conservatives can hurt themselves when they're not thinking clearly. Naturally, this is not the only reason the GOP lost these seats, but it no doubt helped.

Look at the issues... look at what was accomplished and what failed...

Look at the election results...

The moderate RINO crowd has nobody to blame but themselves.

Conservatives are all by themselves.

The elected congress might have 2 or 3 Conservatives.

I am ready to leave FR. Will someone publish a link to a paleoconservative forum where liberals left of 'conservative' are not welcome. I'm done with mainstream politics. DUmmies' refugees and refusees can have FR.

I am sick and tired of this rhetoric."We now have a Lib.Dem. ran congress because of the Con.Rep. temper tantrum." I have heard this irrational blame game since day one and it is totally missing the point. The Rep. pretend to be Conservative to get elected and then ignore their con. base until next election. The Rep. didn't do what they said they were going to do so they did not get reelected. The Dems. run things now but IT IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE VOTER! It is the fault of the greasy politicians who mislead and don't keep their word.

I held my nose, and voted straight R, again. However, enough is enough. Y'all can moan and whine until Hell freezes over, but the party is too far left already, and unless Rudy, or Mitt, or John, or whoever you choose, does a drastic philosophical adjustment, and starts acting like a republican, don't count on me next time.
All of this has been promised, and predicted, but some of you thought most of us were bluffing. You thought wrong!

"The moderate RINO crowd has nobody to blame but themselves."

Actually, I agree with you for the most part. I don't agree with everything written in this article, and I think that conservatives would indeed find it hard to vote for many of these guys.

We have to realize not everyone in the repub party is going to be a staunch conservative and that's ok, but the one thing we can not afford or allow is for Moderate's, Rino's and their thinking to reign.

In order for the Republicans to win and move things forward has always been and will always be to govern conservatively. To do the RIGHT thing no matter what the consequence.

When you have DBM/dems running to the right of repubs and winning YOU KNOW you've got a huge indentity crisis!

"IT IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE VOTER! It is the fault of the greasy politicians who mislead and don't keep their word."

You have a strong point. The Democrats won because the GOP's backbone turned into a chocolate eclair on many things, like Mark Foley and so many other things. It is interesting that a lot of the so-called moderate Republicans were the ones that bore the brunt of the defeat. The plus side of this is that, ideologically, we lost less with losing Jim Leach, Nancy Johnson, Rob Simmons and their kind than we would have in losing the really conservative types.

Wierd how the GOP blames the voters instead of looking at themselves, their job performance and the lack of a focused agenda.

Odd, too, how the GOP truly believes that they are entitled to every vote from a registered Republican regardless of what the party or candidates do.

I think to blame the "stay at home conservatives" is way off base. To win you must win the center as the right can't do it on their votes alone. During the election I kept wondering, "where is our side?" Lets face it, for the most part, the RNC and its various off shoots did a really poor job of answering the charges from the democrats, in fact, in many cases they hid or ran on the really smart slogan of "if you don't vote for me you will get Nancy." Most people didn't have a clue or care about Nancy.

Lets face it, the election was lost from the top down, Bush didn't step up, Republican leadership in congress didn't step up and the RNC just put on the answering machine and went to sleep.

"We have to realize not everyone in the repub party is going to be a staunch conservative and that's ok, but the one thing we can not afford or allow is for Moderate's, Rino's and their thinking to reign."

Exactly. My sincere hope is that, in this humiliating defeat, the minority GOP will realize it's time to wake up and start acting strong again.

From this link....

In the 1994 campaign, Romney also proudly labeled himself a moderate. "I'm not a partisan politician," he said in an interview with The Post that fall. "My hope is that, after this election, it will be the moderates of both parties who will control the Senate, not the Jesse Helmses."

Yeah, let's hear it for RINOs.

They want us to laud them for their “courage” in either not voting or actually voting Democrat, AND they want us to attach no blame to them for delivering a liberal dominated congress led by people who have no regard for the safety of America.

All the more reason for Conservatives to form their own party and replace either the Republican or Democrat parties considering the two are becoming more alike as time passes.

It is the fault of the greasy politicians who mislead and don't keep their word.

That's true, however when you were faced with what is at stake, to not vote to teach repubs a lesson and hand power over to the kook left who practically embrace our enemies and has ruined our culture with their psychobabbling B.S., your NOT VOTE choice was absolutely ignorantly destructive.

You want to do this in the primaries, fine, but don't mess with our security...Selfish prix!

Moderate Rino is the more politically correct term for Socialist Democrat.

This last election only cleared out some of the bad apples of the GOP. The next election when others of their elk come up for re-election will be defeated as well. If the GOP want to remain the majority then they had better well listen to the regular citizens instead of special lobbying groups. IMO the illegal immigration problem is the main problem and reason why there is a Dem. control Congress and Senate instead of the war in Iraq. The illegal immigration problem is building up and up so much that if something isn't done to satisfy the common U.S. citizen then there is going to be one big explosion in this country.

As noted, most people will not except the truth and, I agree with your post. I will fully agree, until we can get a true con. to fight for our values, why vote for someone who doesn't?
If these moderates can carry the day, so be it, but it want be with my help.
At least when a Democrat wins you know full well what to expect, with RINOS anything could happen. They, RINOS, will promise snow balls in hell for a vote and, as you and others have posted, after their in office they leave the very ideas that got them elected.
So, enough is enough, if others don't feel comfortable here at FR, leave!!!!:-(
